Oh sinha ji, I did.... and did it with vengence. I must have cast more than 2000 votes from my phone, forget the ones I did with my bro's phone or my dad's phone.

And it is exactly this thought, the incredulous thought, which made me kinda vary of this whole practice.

I did my share of voting in Nach Baliye, but nothing to overtake the madness or junoon with which I did it during Abhijeet Sawant time. I was not sure whether to be happy he won or be happy that Amit Sana lost.

I suspected it, where did you read it, Priya ji?

Sinha Ji,

I cant say those words today, for a couple of years ago, I rued that those days are over and here are these days, which have come to stay.

I remember watching a few initial episodes of Challenge, and got a bit put off by the antics of the on screen mentors. I did prefer the Indian Idol show, as the Judges were purely that - Judges. But the tamasha which the show created, when one of the contestants took ill (Amit Sana and his "throat infection") turned the tables on the other contestant. Amit and Rahul were both good in their own right and Amit did not sound as if his voice was strained, but there was a huge drama abut it and what followed the next week was a vote out of Rahul in the sympathy wave for Amit Sana. I too got flowed away in the outburst of emotions on my fav contestant being voted out and voted with a vengence against Amit Sana, at the risk of voting for a "kabhi haan, kabhi naa" sur Abhijeet Sawant. It mattered not to whom my vote went, as long as it was one against Sana.

And at the end of it I realised that if even I could succumb to my anger and ire, and do negative voting, the same is with the other public, on whose emotions the Channels, the journos, the publicists, the producers all prey upon.

My journey on SRGMP stopped then and I did not really watch the show. This time around too, I wasnt keen, but being on the section, reading Anu's updates, I got hooked and could not resist the words written for Diwakar.

Today, I read that there was mass voting in WB. There is nothing wrong with it legally, but is it ethically right, is it right for the talent show.

Legally, if a producer says that a member of public can vote as many times as he wants, and then has a silent rule that no more than 20 votes per sim will be accepted (like in Nach Baliye) we can sue the producers for misrepresentation.

But when the producer makes it very clear that it is for you to cast as many votes as you want and spend your money on a contestant of your choice, and permit you to adopt any and all tactics of voting for the contestant, then he is not guilty of misrepresenation, as he has placed all facts at the disposal of the voting public.

A lot of you have said the winners must be compared to shreya and sunidhi etc. I think sanchita can stand her own against Sunidhi anyday. She is way better than her!

I completely agree with you Sinhaji. I would be surprised if any of these really become successful, seeing so much hype and money and success at a young age may make them lazy to try for more. I wonder how committed they will be.

Niraj:

I am not familiar with the law in India to the extent that I can give binding
legal advice but certainly there can be investigations into fraud or
mismanagement. In this country, there are a ton of disclaimers put int eh
middle of the credits to insulate from liability on these matters.

Like the US, it seems that Indian TV will also pander to the lowest
common denominators (lust and greed). It would be better if there was
independent auditing by an outside firm.

I think SRGM did a good thing this time by giving judges awards which
acknowledged talent without public opinion.

I also want to comment on the whole Diwalker contraversy brought up in
other topics as well. No doubt Zee shamelessly made money off
sympathy/guilt for the blind. But Zee is always exploiting something
about all of the contestants (Rajiv the poor chow mein cook; Vinit's
girlfriend, Vinit's unpaid utility bill to get a guitar, Debo dead mother - -
not to mention sexing up all the girls to the point of vulgarity) - -
anything for hte extra buck. Diwalker's parents are neither blind nor deaf
and were fully aware of Zee's record in this department.

I think that Diwalker was the winner in this by getting good exposure,
good contacts, and a mostly positive experience - -not to mention
money. I also don't think that Diwalker had any unfair advantage over the
other contestants. Also, his success was a comfort and inspiration to
many parents of handicapped children like myself that dreams may come
true. I would never expect a average looking blind kid with no dancing
skills to get this far in an SMS contest so I think that overall there are
many winners here.

Yes, There were many winners with MORALITY driven to back stage....!!!!!! Even without all that drama DIWAKAR would have got his due fame without Gajji exploiting his fathers different personality.

You are right. Even I din't like the part where children begged for votes........ I wish this voting system stops .I wish the judges only give their final verdict. Though it was rigged I liked the show....It was entertaining to watch this children singing. I liked Sanchita's voice and Sameer. They had improved a lot from before.

Actually I miss the show😳and I liked the Lil children performing 😉 but I hope next time Gajji doesn't bring the LIL champs on the stage and ask them to beg for votes.
