Hiya Anu – few from me 😃

  1. What makes a film or TV program or series a good one? Why? Are there any similarities between good movies and good literature in general? Dissimilarities?
  2. What makes a work of art (painting, music, film, sculpture, literature, or whatever) a good one? Are there conditions such that any work of art (of that kind) that meets them will be a good one, and any work of art that does not meet them is not a good one? Why or why not? If you think there are such conditions, what do you think they are? Why? Are the conditions different for each of the different kinds of art forms, or are there some criteria common to all good works of art, no matter what kind of art they are?
  3. In Islam and Christianity there is a concept called Evangelism – means simply marketing your religion to convert more people in your religion. Is that a good thing or bad thing? Why? Why in Hinduism, Jewish, Jainism, Buddhism there is no such things? Should there be?
  4. If the mind is the place that all your sensations are perceived, how can you tell they don't simply start there? In terms of our sensations and perceptions what is the difference between reality and dreams or illusions? Or is there no difference? Why or why not?
  5. What is your explanation/definition of - God, Love, Religion, Culture
  6. Zeno's paradoxes: You can never leave any room you are in, because before you can get to the door, you first have to go halfway to the door. But before you get halfway to the door you must first get halfway to that place (that is, one fourth of the way to the door). But there are an infinite number of such halfway places and you do not have time to go to an infinite number of places, so you can never get out of any room -- or move anywhere. Right?
  7. If a person is irresponsible and does something that hurts someone else, should he be punished? If you are not responsible for your behavior, how can you be legitimately blamed and therefore justifiably punished for what you do?
  8. Is it reasonable to forgive somebody who is not sorry for the wrong thing that he did? Why or why not? Is it necessary to forgive him if he is sorry? Why or why not?
  9. How can a God that is all loving allow evil to exist in the world? Is God being cruel in allowing evil, or is He just not powerful enough to do anything about it? Does this prove there is no God at all?
  10. If everything is defined and predetermined by god, and I am a non-believer – doesn't that mean God wanted me to be so? Why?

Having been privileged to meet her, I must say that the first words that come to your mind after speaking to her are pious, trusting, wise, humble, devoted and a true friend.

Hi Anu – lets begin on a serious note. I asked some of these to Kavita. Now, I would like to know your opinion on the following statements as well, and I think some of your responses will be quite different from hers 😛

Do you agree to them, why or why not?

1. When a man spends longer hours at work, he is only 'working very hard'; when a woman does the same, she is an 'outright careerist'!

2. A woman should retain her maiden name after marriage. After all, that's the identity she has grown up with from birth.

3. Live-in relationships are perfectly fine for matured, independent individuals; marriage only brings in unnecessary commitments!

4. Parents are the best teachers for the sex-education of teenager kids, and should start it as early as possible.

5. Nuclear family works the best! If the girl is leaving behind her family after marriage, so should the guy!

6. Love marriages fail more often than arranged marriages because of unreasonable expectations from each other!

7. Virtual relationships can have as much impact as real, even without any real contact. Hence they are lot stronger!

8. The strongest believer of God does not need to go to a temple to worship. God is inside the person anyways

9. Indian film music is decaying! Re-mix at least helps youngsters to be aware of the golden compositions.

10. Internet and Television exposure for today's kids is a menace – for every one useful information /knowledge, there are ten that are harmful!

11. Same sex relationships should be legalized.

12. Death penalty does not address the root cause of the problem and hence should be abolished.

13. The youth today needs to stay back in India and work towards its progress. Brain drain does not help.

14. Love at first sight is something you only see in Karan Johar movies – it never happens in real life

15. Love is best when silent and implied. Feelings anyways can't be expressed in words or actions.

Will ask more soon….

Here's one more Anu – again this is something I asked Sunny. Me expecting a detailed answer from you 😃

There is going to be a competition on IF. The competition is totally open where the teams can be asked questions from History to Math to Movies to Sports to Music to anything you can think on the world. They may be asked to sing, act, write stories, cook or any other competitive act.

You have been given the task to form at least 5 teams (you may form more), each with 4 IF members. You have to form the teams so that they are equal in strength and well equipped to perform any event.

- Please form these teams

- Give them some interesting names

- Allot 4 members to each – one of them being the captain

- Identify the key strengths of each of the members

- Justify why you think that these teams can work best internally

- Why do you think they are completely at par with the other teams?

Will wait for your answers 😊

What is ur take on IT frauds. Do you think that Indians are more active in IT frauds. Do u think anyone would be able to restrain the IT frauds one day. It is supposed that IT played a big role in the recent attacks on Mumbai. How do u investigate such sites.
