Along with Big B, Abhishek,Priynaka n Saif.. Gajji and HR made to the Top 10 Movers & Shakers of 2006 so far...
Gajendra Singh: An unlikely news-maker…but one who has made a helluva difference to Hindi cinema in the last 10 years with his music –talent contest Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee . Singh's astonishing hear-house has thrown open the doors for singing talent all over the country and given the industry such playback singers as Shreya Ghosal and Kunal Ganjawala. But the best is yet to come.2005 has thrown forward another cluster of outstanding singing talent. Two current contestants on Sa Re Ga Ma , Himani Kapoor and Vinit Singh are going to give all the established playback singers a run for their 'moaning' in 2006. The show proves—there's more singing than acting talent in this country.
Himesh Reshammiya: At a time when the recording industry faced the music in the worst sense Himesh Reshamiyya rocked the nation with the sufi-rock sounds of Aashiq banaya aapne. It was a sound that spelt doom for the jaded sounds of all the other established music directors of Bollywood, barring Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. "The secret lies in creating music for listeners who are 23 and below," Himesh tells me confidently. Er…where does that place the sounds of the tradionalists. Blare kiya to darna kya???
And the ones to watch out for in second-half of 2006:
Amitabh Bachchan in Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna: cool, raunchy, swaggering and cocky…in a never-before avatar
Monty's music in Sanjay Bhansali's Saanvariya: mindblowing melodies harking back to the best traditions of Hindi music.
Sammir Dattani in The Informer: Says the director Mani Shankar, "In Sammir I've seen the kind of vulnerability and sensitivity that I thought had vanished from our movies long ago. He's the face of 2006"
Anna Singh's costumes in J.P. Dutta's Umrao Jaan. Says JP, "I had signed another costume designer who had to be replaced at the eleventh hour. Anna has dressed up Ash and all the other characters like a dream."
Kareena Kapoor's item song in Farhan Akhtar's Don. When she'll sizzle to the sound of Yeh mera dil pyar ka deewana , Helen will be forgotten.
Aishwarya Rai's svelte sexy sensuous femme-fatale act in Dhoom 2, followed by her elegant old-world grace in Umrao Jaan.
Hrithik Roshan's villainy in Dhoom 2 after his super-cool heroism in Krissh.
Shah Rukh Khan's lone appearance in 2006 in Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna.
