From the little i watched of C2005 and now of EMET..i think ID was the best judge. He was tough but fair on all the contestants and saved his harshest criticisms for his own gharana

I agree with you, ID tried to bring out the best from his own students, at the same time he kept praising others for their good performances, the good-gesture from ID vanished only after AS and HR gave very less marks to Debojit in the qwali round, that was one of the toughest song to perform.

Hariharanji is a good singer, shows the fault of everyone perfectly, but in c2005, the level of competition and performances were much better than emet, I donot know what would have his comments after Hemu's Nahin Samne, Debu's ek hasina thi, Vinit's Tera Jadoo Chal gaya, Himani's Henna song, and of course Nihira's all performances.

If you're talking about stars/points then no comparison.. it's HH.. the C2005 people were doling out 10's like anything.. and they didn't even provide any explanations like HH does.

But that was the fault of the system, every mentor after working for such a long time with their students will have an emotional binding with them. Among the group of students they had, there was still liking for one or two particular students, for example ID for Nihira, AS for Himani and HR for vinit. also they were not asked to explain the reasons for that, if asked also the simple reason was "is gaane ne mere dil ko nehi chua", whatever the performance it might be.

But in emet, HHji is an impartial judge, he will rate the jodis according to the performance on a particular day, so he has the advantage in that way. But Ismailji praised all the competitors irrespective of gharanas for their best performances. If the students were not divided in gharanas, and they were trained by all the mentors on different days, then it would have been a true picture of impartiality.

But if you remember, mentors never gave points to their own students, so the issue of biased points for own students doesn't arise. But they even doled out 10s to all the other students 🤢.

You guys are missing the point - we're not asking about how fair the mentors were or how they treated students from other gharanas.

The voting is based on only one criteria - how they gave points/stars.

ID, even if he wasn't biased, gave too many points without really thinking or justifying it. HH is more careful with his stars. Even though has has much less stars than the mentors had points. But they still gave out 10s, and he doesn't even give 7 unless they're flawless.
