In a departure from routine Thursday episodes, Groovy Gurus Hariharan and Leslie Lewis came up on stage just as the show began during the shoot on Monday and snatched the envelopes from host Shaan, containing the percentage of viewer votes that the participating jodis had received.

Rebels without a pause - Hariharan, Leslie and Upen Patel

As viewer rankings very rarely matched the judge's rankings on Zee's Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, the gurus insisted that they were going to decide which jodi will sing and not conform to tradition of letting India decide.

Interestingly, the Gurus decided the first pair and then put the participants, hosts Shaan and Ishita and the audience in a spot, asking them to pick their favourite jodi. Till the last jodi performed, the Gurus refused to let the results be known.

Speaking to Tellychakkar.com, Leslie said, "We were bored of the usual routine, so we decided to bring a fresh change to the format. Every week, it is always us who decide how the jodis perform and, most often viewers react differently. Knowing Shaan's, Ishita's and the participant's favourites adds to the fun element in the show."

And if that wasn't enough, after all the jodis had sung their respective songs, the Groovy Gurus went a step ahead and handed over the envelopes to the jodis themselves to see what fate had in store for them. The jodis performed without stress as they sang ignorant about the position they had reached that week, but the mood became somber as the gurus handed each female participant the results.

With the results in their hands, all jodis look like they are in the borderline position and there is jubilation and huge upsets as India's verdict is announced. Who stays, who topples whom and who goes….we will keep you posted.

I wish they stop changing rules to suit themselves. Groovy guru should stick to music and respect public vote. 😭

They are respecting the public vote and we were told from the beginning that there would be a scenario where they could over-rule the public vote i.e. the veto.

The thing that keeps changing here is the format of the show because its never said that they used a veto...they just changed the structure of the show.

Therefore if we want to get upset with someone it has to be the producers of the show 😕
