My original choice of song was "Yeh zindagi usi ki hai" from Anarkali. I recorded it, but then at the last moment, decided against it, considering several young members on the forum who would not have heard that 1950s song. So went ahead with this 1990s song, which I like especially for its music.

Although the movie is supposed to be about people in Rajasthan (or so I think), the music has a lot of Assamese influence, brought in by Bhupen Hazarika.

Hi Ummm, I don't think you should worry about the younger members not having heard a particular song. The songs of yester-years have a timelessness which would appeal to any generation. That's why they are being remixed and packaged as new!

To give you an example, when Vinit sang "nain lad jai he" in SRGMP, I saw the youngsters asking each other on this forum whether they had the lyrics for this song; they had liked it so much!

You might help in popularising the old songs by singing them well. But of course, the song should be "attemptable" 😊 80% of the songs sung by Lata and Asha are just too difficult for anyone without voice training!

I think it would be good if the female contestants don't try to sing in an artificial high-pitched voice to match Lata or Asha. Just sing in a pitch you are comfortable with (the way Himani did 😊 ) When one sings in falsetto, the voice becomes too thin and shrill.

Thanks for saying that Punjiji ji! I know what you mean. Had to try very hard not to sing in falsetto with Lata's song. 😳
