btw, the shareholders would easily outnumber the number of golden-oldies.

I partly agree. I think any commercial venture will have a Profit maximizing objective, be it by means of increasing revenues, or decreasing expenditures, or both (and some just purely do it by the volumes of sales).

Not sure how it works in India, but here (USA), we have the Nielsen Ratings system, which I believe is purely based on viewership (correct me if Iam wrong). The higher the rating you get (based on the sample households chosen), the more ads, and probably the higher the price per ad, whuich translates into more revenue.

The difference that I see though is that Idol-type programs her have Toll-free numbers, so that is not their source of revenue, unlike in India, where it looks to be the primary/significant source of revenue.

The shareholders will obviously care about the bottom-line, because their returns/dividends are directly related to them. But I would hope that they are not directly involved in the day to day running of operation, that's what the operational manager, and his subordinates are for (in the case of SRGMP - GS). Those people are in a better position to know what works and what doesn't. In some cases, it might even be a conflict of interest. Then again, these are all idealistic points.

Even if initially the short-term returns are great, the marginal rate of decrease in revenue, per Challenge, will be significant. Just like C2005 was tolerable, but now with EMAET, they are losing viewership, aren't they?

But I have to say that this is the best decision I've seen GS make in a while (the expulsion). But he trying to make full use of the situation for his benefit.

From what Shaan said on April 6 (India), it'll be aired on April 7 (India), and April 14 (USA/Canada)
