Ya I agree, that Mmmmm part is just too good and Shaan did it so well.. to sing a Shaan number in front of Shaan and do a pretty good job at it, it says something !

I really liked his Right Here Right Now as well, especially when he sang it during the 2006 first episode.. coz he sang Sunidhi's and Abhisheks part and if you listen he goes.. 'Right here right now hain kushi ka sama' in a high note and then 'wind your body one time' in a VERY low note.. that shows control over ur voice..its not easy..

i mean c'mon..even his worse performances weren't half as bad.. i thought his mera karma tu was fantastic.. so wat if he forgot the lyrics..there was passion.. i culd feel it in his voice...

a very good analysis!! and i agree with you...we just cant compare hema n karunya. they both r amazing singers in their own way! they entirely have different kind of voices. considering the fact tat Hema's voice is still under the prcess of maturing, we shouldn think abt the strain some times shown when he sings in higher pittches. with time, he will have a complete mature voice! Karunya on the other side is 2 yrs senior to hema.

So, please lets not compare them...i enjoy listening to them both. I am waiting for karunya to sing a ARR number. i think, as per the news, in the next GALA of II2, we get to hear that( where they have to sing two songs each). I am waiting!!!

I was not really trying to compare THEM, but more the level of difficulty of songs that they have sung. But I think Hema had less control over song selection. As Madhavir pointed out, each has their own strengths and weaknesses. I agree with your point on Hema's voice still maturing. This is exactly what I thought too (about the high notes).

'Aalapana' also had some good songs (my knowledge base only goes upto 1994). Esp 'Aa Kanulalo', and 'Nataraju Nayanaalu' . Though I wasn't the biggest fan of Bhanupriya's dancing. Lacked a little grace in my opinion.

I remember some Tamil ones from the early 80's.

Another good movie which had brilliant songs were Annamayya, there were just Shri Annamayya's kirtanas but my god, they are just fantasticccccc.. SPB's voice sounds like a Gandharva's voice in that !
