Thanks Punjiniji, I too heard it...and now that you mention the scenes, I vaguely recollect having seen this song in India on the Telly...Zee used to show ONLY songs when it started...Zee understood the "nus" (nerve) of indian junta...i.e. Indians are nuts about oldies and they kept bombarding the viewers with these oldies...then old movies...when it got the viewership...it started producing/airing serials....

I think this is a song from Teesri Kasam....I never dared watch this movie (obviously because of RK) but I looove to hear this Bhojpuri number...Waheeda Rehman has danced beautifully on this song.....I still remember Waheeda's close up and her madhosh adaaa...she looking at the viewer sideways....her outstretched right hand behind her face....

Paan khaye saiyaan hamaaro
Sanwali suratiya honth laal laal...
haye haye mal mal ka kudta...
mal mal key kudtey pey cheentein lal lal...

Ashaji's voice!!! heavenly.!

Watch it. RK is very different here. And the movie is worth watching too.

Another song I like from this movie is

Sajanwa Baire Ho Gaye Hamaar
Chithiya Ho to Har Koi Banchhe
Bhaag na Baanchhe koi
Karamwa Bairi Ho gaye Hamaar

From situational songs to non-situational song. Sort of. I like this one from "Raja Rani" composed by RD & rendered beautifully by Bhupinder and Ashaji- Jab andhera hota hai... Aadhi raat ke baad... Ek cor nikalata hai... Kali si sadak pe... Yeh awaaz aati hai... Chor chor chor chor chor chor chor chor... Sheheron ki galiyon mein

It appears during the titles so I labelled it as non-situational but they show Rajesh Khanna running & hiding trying to get off from the police who are after him.
The way it has benn composed shows RD's genius. Ash singing the lines while Bhupinder adding the pa pa pa in the background or Asha singing in higher octave while Bhupinder lending his voice in a lower octave.

Just listen to it to enjoy.

Anybody remembers these songs from Waqt (made in 1965 starring Sunil Dutt, Sadhana, Raj Kumar, Sharmila Tagore, Shashi Kapoor, Balraj Sahni)
01. Ham Jab Simat Ke Aapki Bahon Mein
02. Maine dekha hai

Both are sung by Manna Dey and Asha. Manna Dey's voice sounds so romantic, you have to listen to them to beleive it. Asha's voice so hatke, just so sweeeeeeeet! Like her mera kuch saamaan, saathe re bhool na jaana. I don't know how they are picturized, but both of them are fantastic, especially "maine dekha hai".

The male vocals are not by Manna Dey but by Mahendra Kapoor.

I cant fully remember how this song was picturised, but i love this song. I think Asha was mesmerising in this song

Yehi woh jagah hai
Yehi woh fizaa hai
Yehi par kabhi aap humse mile the…

Yahi par mera haath mein haath leke
Kabhi naa bichadne ka waada kiya
Sada ke liye hue hum tumhare
Gale se laga ke hume yeh kaha thaa
Kabhi kam na hongi humari wafaein
Yahi pe kabhi aap humse mile the

Yehi par wafa ka naya rang ubharke
Banayi thi chahat ki tasveer tumne
Yahi ki baharon se phoolon ko chunkar
Sawari thi ulfaat ki tasveer tumne
Woh din aapko kaise yaad dilaye.
Yahin par kahin aap humse mile thee…
