I think our generation is more into hiphop than listening to quality music and this why we are seeing this trend and this is why sa re ga ma pa started this new style. I mean HR is now the most sought verus more verstatile individuals. I guess our generation ears are more intuned to loud hiphop, rap, and so music than to sweet melodies or music with meaning!

really sad state of affairs !!!! while on this subject does anyone know anything about Hrishikesh ... ????? what happened to this extremely talented / classically trained singer after his win on Saregamapa in Dubai ???????

Thank you very much Raghavji. I love that Saregama show. I was wondering about Md.Vakil. I understand there was a music album sang by all final contestants of saregama. Where can I get that CD? How can I download those songs? Please help me.

That album was called Sapney...

Bela is doing her own performances as well as is appearing in the shows where thr is a class act...she is not running after publicity and singing in bollywood...she is very much with class music around Pune and Mumbai.

That is good news. I was surprised to see her name in a remix album. That too pop unless it is some other Bela...

Bela had last sung for MMKreem in Paheli, if I'm not wrong and truly I think we shud hear more of singers like Vakil,Hrishikesh,Bela etc.They were all like true students of Indian music in every sense.I hope we get out of these publicity stunts by channels and thereby deteriorating the quality coming out of the contests...

Raghav Sahab aapka kis tarah se shukr adaa karoon mere samajh se baahar hai. Hats off to you. It is people like you, the supporters of quality music that have to support the likes of Mohd Vakil.They are like a light at the end of the tunnel.They are the stars in the sky of Indian classical music we need them to sooth our hearts.Is se pehle ke Chingari par raakh jum jaaye we need to rediscover them. Buy their CD's as much as possible. I loved Sa Re Ga Ma mega final where all the stalwarts chose Md Vakil over others.We need to keep this thread going till it reaches people like ID, ARR and others.Who can help this candle of tallent burn in our hearts. We need the revival of raga based music.
In one of the web sites I listned to his album. and it is a good begining. May be Dwarakaji can analyse. His uncles took him in Veer Zaara. In the qawwali 'Aaya tere dar pe deewana' It is very heard to single out his voice I tried very heard and apart from the chorus with Ahmad and Mohammad Hussain I think he has a solo alaap after the 1st or 2nd antraa. I want you people especialy Raghavji and Dwarkaji to listen and spot his voice and post here. At this juncture the least we can do is spread the word and buy his albums. Dwarakaji can play a bigger role in this. As I think he gets opportunity to meet people connected with film Industry. I am looking for the address of ID to write to him to give a chance to Md.Vakil. and Mohd Azeez another lost star
