I have yet to see the show. On the one hand, I have lost interest in it, as Hema is no longer in the running.
On the other hand, I am extremely curious - I must have been a cat in my past life 😉 - to witness the events.
Autmotherji, the concert you witnessed was of a completely different genre. You have to realize, SRGMP and its related shows are about more than just music. They are blend of music, entertainment and drama. This prescripted show had been overly hyped and sensationalised in order to draw in a bigger crowd (in order to make more money of course).
If you went in with the expectation that you would be hearing sensational music, I would have to question whether you had been watching SRGMP or not. It is a continuing dramatical saga in which music plays a supporting role.
A Lataji, or Ashaji, or Bappi Lahiriji concert is of a different genre alltogether. You will not see either of these three musicians "getting their groove on" or arguing about private things such as love on stage. They are older, more experienced, and thereby wiser than the contestants and mentors of SRGMP.
I will say this; these established musicians also have an established fan group. A large percentage of this group (I would venture to say) have deep respect for the individual singers. I would also hazard that a significant percentage of the fans are adults, and of the older and wiser nature. Lataji, Ashaji and Lahiriji are sensations in their own rights, but they inspire respect and awe, not swooning. There is also a small percentage of these very same fans who will indeed scream and shout out their joy over seeing their favorite musicians. It is expected.
The last part of my meandering explanation is as follows. The musicians you speak of are, as mentioned, established in the industry. They are not competing against each other, as are the contestants in the Musical Competition Challenge SRGMP. When these musicians are together on stage, the fans are not shouting their preference, but instead screaming out their support of them and their verbalizing their excitement in seeing a conglomeration of talent on stage. A show such as SRGMP would, of course, carry its drama from the small screen television to a mass venue stage.
😳 Oops...that's long!
