Pehle to...autmother, aap do baar chatbuster ka naam galat copy kar gaye. Sorry, but it's started to bug me a lot since it happens so often with me. But that's not important.

Autmother...your post was opinion based. I wish, as appaji had also requested, you'd provided details of the show to back up your thoughts. Those of us who haven't had a chance to see it yet do not have a base off of which we can compare and then agree or disagree.

As Chatbuster mentioned, live shows often tend to be more about the hype, the atmosphere and actually seeing the performer, and less about the show (singing, etc) itself. Had it been a play, I would have said otherwise. But in this case, I will have to agree with Chatbuster.

Pradip...I didn't understand your comment about HR and Ranchi. Perhaps it's due to the fact that I no longer live in India, and am therefore removed from regional prejudices. Care to explain?

Hi simtara ji,

Nice Avatar😉. Ranchi is famous for its Mental Asylum, and thats what Pradip ji meant.

Just watched the Delhi episode online. I have only one thing to say "VINIT YOU ARE SCREWED". Once this show is telecasted you will loose lot of votes. You were just no match for Debojit.

Appaji, hum aapse chote hain. Humme ji naa kahiye.
Thank you. Kajol is one of my favorites. Achcha...Mental assylum hain. Actually, I think main yeh baat jaanti thi. Bas bhool gayi. Afsos, hum bhi bihari babuni there.
Thanks for the update Appaji. Lekin hua kya? Kya aap link de sakte hain? I still haven't seen the video. (Not that any of the shows hold much interest anymore, but still - morbid curiosity).

AMen neela_asma.

Rahi chatbuster ki baath, theless said the better. I think he/she does not know what he is talking about.

simtara, please do watch the show and give me your opinion.
Are you trying to tell me that whether, Lataji, Ashaji or bappi lahiri or himesh sings ina live crowd, it will all be same,

I have yet to see the show. On the one hand, I have lost interest in it, as Hema is no longer in the running.
On the other hand, I am extremely curious - I must have been a cat in my past life 😉 - to witness the events.
Autmotherji, the concert you witnessed was of a completely different genre. You have to realize, SRGMP and its related shows are about more than just music. They are blend of music, entertainment and drama. This prescripted show had been overly hyped and sensationalised in order to draw in a bigger crowd (in order to make more money of course).
If you went in with the expectation that you would be hearing sensational music, I would have to question whether you had been watching SRGMP or not. It is a continuing dramatical saga in which music plays a supporting role.
A Lataji, or Ashaji, or Bappi Lahiriji concert is of a different genre alltogether. You will not see either of these three musicians "getting their groove on" or arguing about private things such as love on stage. They are older, more experienced, and thereby wiser than the contestants and mentors of SRGMP.
I will say this; these established musicians also have an established fan group. A large percentage of this group (I would venture to say) have deep respect for the individual singers. I would also hazard that a significant percentage of the fans are adults, and of the older and wiser nature. Lataji, Ashaji and Lahiriji are sensations in their own rights, but they inspire respect and awe, not swooning. There is also a small percentage of these very same fans who will indeed scream and shout out their joy over seeing their favorite musicians. It is expected.
The last part of my meandering explanation is as follows. The musicians you speak of are, as mentioned, established in the industry. They are not competing against each other, as are the contestants in the Musical Competition Challenge SRGMP. When these musicians are together on stage, the fans are not shouting their preference, but instead screaming out their support of them and their verbalizing their excitement in seeing a conglomeration of talent on stage. A show such as SRGMP would, of course, carry its drama from the small screen television to a mass venue stage.

😳 Oops...that's long!

Good point Simtara and well taken.
But do you feel hypothetically if Hema, Nihira or Sharib were in the finals would it still be the same. Dont you think they would have belted some classics because they can actually sing

Look (and this is not to point fingers at you, it's just that you too are bringing it up and I am participating in this thread), obviously those who made it into this show are capable of singing.
You may not like Vinit's style of singing. Fine. I didn't particularly like Rajeev's. We all have our preference in that. But it doesn't mean we go about claiming or declaring that the rest aren't singers (just because we don't like them).
As far as the hypothetical situation... Yes, obviously it would have been different. Each individiual brings a unique dynamic with himself or herself. The three you mentioned are well versed in the classical forms of singing as well. While the assumption that they would have chosen to sing within their comfort zone is valid, it is equally possible that at this stage they would also have been interested in or comfortable enough to explore less familiar areas.
Trust me when I say that there would have been an equal amount of hype if any two of the three contestants you mentioned had been on stage instead. The difference would have been in the reason for the hype and mania.
I'll go as far as to give a hypothetical reason. These contestants are all relatively young. With youth comes energy and a different form of passion. The crowd feeds off this energy, and in return supplies energy for the performers.

😳 So much praise. Abhi you'll spoil me.
Thank you for verbalizing some of the miscellanious thoughts that were running through my head.
I haven't had the privilidge to sit through a classical performance, or something by the greats such as Lataji, yet. I look forward to such a day.
