We've nothing against anyone, why would we have in a farce competition, but trust me there are far more diehard fans of Nihira than me & they all may not be equally moderate....for what has been analysed.

Farewell week...In Every Glance, A Lifetime: The Saga of PraShiv💕
This post of yours is way better. Definetely what you say carries weight because you seem quite knowledgeable about music. So your opinion expressed as such is respected and one finds pearls of musical wisdom in what you say.
Put the other knowledgeable opinions also in perspective and for the major part, consider your own judgement and feeling about a rendition by the singer. After all that, music affectionados could be reasonable god judges. At least their (Post Mortem, After the Effect, Hind Sight 20/20) would be quite accurate.

Desivaluesji, with due respect, I'd like to disagree and pay my 2 cents.
Nihi has been good in most songs she's sung. And they've been versatile. Himani, has stuck to her strength.
Here's a scenerio -
Saurav Ganguly is a prolofic player..flamboyance, grace personified. Has done exceedingly well at home, and records stand tall.
Steve Waugh played quietly, mature, gritty, down to earth craftsmanship. No flamboyance. Has scored even all over the world.
Now, who's the better batsman?
After that digression, there's one more point I'd like to make.
There are allegations (or rather, opinions) that Nihira's singing doesn't have feel, while Himani's has. Agreed to an extent. We draw the line here. We are WATCHING THEM sing. When it's a question of playback, we don't WATCH THEM sing. So the feel has to be conveyed by their voice alone, and that depends on their voice quality. Going just by that, Nihira is as sweet as nectar.
But then, as Anuragji pointed out, nowadays, you don't need to be a really good singer to sing for movies.
Another argument is, music is declining because of bad singers. Counter argument - Music is declining, so bad singers. Although, we could again counter the second point by saying that a person's gaayki depends on his/her talim and riyaaz.
And the offshot is?
This debate is endless. We should agree to disagree and bury the hatchet and clean up the wounds and break down the wall and fill up the ditch and blah blah blah. To each his own. Amen.
Anyone for Seabuckthorn juice? Chilled? No rum, sorry Shantibai. 😃
The world has become strange now - In the U.S. Talat Aziz was touring with Ghulam Ali - can you believe it! The most besura Ghazal singer doing jugal bandis with among the best Ghazal singers ever born! But that's life.
Incidentally, I had organized their show in Chicago. I had same inhibitions before but was surprised later. True, many audience came to listen to Ghulam Ali than Talat. But I cannot deny the fact that Talat was a good showman as well and many of us were pleasantly surprised by it. He (like Ghulam Ali) kept audience entertained. Again, its what common audience liked!
