or manipulation. It is disgraceful for them to use their positions to hurt
rather than help future singers. They have lost my respect to some extent.

Give me examples of unfair remarks please., and manipulations are DEMANDED by their position as MENTORS to advance the cause of their CHELAS. This is their role to play and it has nothing to do with their ability as Music Creator. What different things would you have done if you were the mentor of one of the Gharanas.

May the best guy on the day win the title.

Magaar himesh jeeeeeeeee aur ragaaa?

kahi aap maazzzaaakk to nahi karr rahey hai ?😃😃

Hi Shantibai,

Are you mistaking me with somebody else on the board? I am as desi as they come from Mera Bharat Mahaan. I happen to know Himesh personally and have learnt many things from him. I would not call him friend but a person that I know and for your information he not only knows Indian classical music but also has a good knowledge of western classical music (That is where he get his inspirations for new tunes!!!!!!!!!-just kidding). I think you don't have to have very intricate knowledge of "Shashtriya Sangeet" to create popular music. Great KishoreKumar and O.P. Nayyar are just 2 examples that come to my mind. By the way Himesh also is a fairly good writer and I think that is why he can create and weave some outrageous and controversial plots and subplots in the SRGMP program.

Nice tasting Desi Ghee by the way however I did not like the videshi sugar.

I repeat all 3 were besura ...but I'm not criticizing them, those were
difficult songs. But its an imperfect world we live in, as proved time and
agin by forum members.

Well, as you say, we can all afford to be critics coz we're not up that
stage. But that's not the point. If we are judging the contest, our ears
have to be capable of picking up these things. India ki voice besura nahin
hona chahiye.

As for "all of them are besura" - as far as I'm concerned, there's a marked
difference between going slightly flat and slipping noticeably. Hema
might go a tiny bit - I mean minutely flat - and that too only on his bad
days - which are few. Debo has a greater chance of going flat - he
doesn't have as good control over his voice as Hema - but VINIT slipped
up on sur badly in that song.
(On Baar Baar Haan - Vint did better on sur, but had other problems - he
was not able to pick up or project his voice, he missed a line, and shouted
the high notes - although shouting worked ok in this particular song)

Now here is the thing that kept bothering me - this guy got FULL MARKS
on SRGMP after slipping this badly on something as basic as *sur*. I
almost started doubting my ears; that's why I posted. The potential harm
to the public is immeasurable. Public ko sur ki pehchaan na raha tho bura
hogaa, na?

Finally - please do not ever ever say that *I* called *Hema* *besura*.
Kasam se, mai tho heart attack se marjaoongi.

Sensible answer...
I think we all agree that everyone has done little bit sur idhar udhar. For some its very^4 rare...as nihira and for some its very easy to go flat as "you know who". It also depends what song they are singing, how many voice modulation is needed...some songs need a lot of riyaaz and a lot of retakes...remember they are all singing live. Debo's voice has failed him a couple of times in very high notes...but look at the song what he was singing. Look at the overall impact of the song. Hema has a pronunciation/diction problem, but look at the overall output, always amazing. Superior voices...superior renditions...superior control over sur. The flow of the song should not hamper even if you falter at one point. Thats exactly what a good singer is all about....
Vinit's rendition in regular songs....of no utha patak of sur is involved is always true to the notes...but very very mechanical. and when the song has a lot of variations....voice modulations...he fails.

Quick examples of Mentors Misbehaving:

AS unfairly giving low scores to Debo
ID unfairly giving low scores to Chandu in revenge
HR lumping all South singers including Chandu together
AS and HR trashing Assam and the NE
HR stating that Chnadu could only have regional appeal

Vinit was certainly off-key in 'Tu mile..'. What I have observed is Sonu Nigam songs suits best for his voice or in other words he can give justice only to those songs. This is what happened most of the times. But I wouldn't say he is a bad singer.

But certainly I didn't like his 'Tu mile...' song.

ID gave him 10 because he somehow wants his Rs.50 back from him. So Himesh told him, you give him 10 and then I return your Rs.50. Now tell me which is big... 10 or 50...
