Yes. He was. My mother (a classically trained singer) was over and we
both listened to it and she caught several besura places as well (flat in
certain areas). There were alo very audible breaths and the resulting
missteps in taal. That song is not per se difficult (come on it is a Kumar
Sanu song!) except for some quick jumping between notes but withtout
breath control it falls flat. But in the seocnd half he did do an admirable
job in certain areas. To his credit he did put a lot of feeling into the song
as did Kumar Sanu -- I do love the song.

But don't take our word for it. When HR shamelessly asked SG to give a
judgment, SG refused and offered the following analysis: The singing of a
song requires many elements including sur, taal, expression and you
really gave good expression.

Contrast that with SG's comment on Chandu's singing of Ramta Jogi. You
sang Jogi 20 differernt ways and Sukwindher should be a little worried
about you.

anything to protect it from people like vinit.
beats me...totally.😕
Qazi was besura but he was competing against not so besura except
arijit..but here...tauba tauba tauba..leave twinkle, paresh and rajeev
everybody else is amazing..

You know, I have this suspicion it must have come from higher up - like
maybe from the network. Maybe they wanted to compete with Sony for
the teen and under 25 viewers and forced gajji's hands?
If so, he should have taken a stand and just walked away. I mean they
could have produced a new subpar show instead of ruining this one.

I wish to differ with the pundits and the experts on the board and also the child brigade who just because they dislike somebody call them names and even the mentors are not spared.
I think all mentors are very well trained in Indian music and are far more knowledgeable than anybody on this board. They all have struggled to come to where they are now.
I think all 12 singers in finals were fabulous and the janata who is being unfairly crticised as being stupid deserves the credit for somehow ferreting out what they considered to be the best of the talent in the show. I for one claim no vast knowledge of Indian classical music but I have been listening to music for a long time and like good listeners all over India I can appreciate good music when I hear some being played or sung. I don't think anything has been rigged in anybody's favour. If somebody thinks it is can you give the reasons.
I have no favourites and am not going to pull anybody down except saying that we should have respect for the guys who create music that is enjoyed by millions and not let our biases blind us into offering unwanted and unfair comments. I love Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and still think it is miles ahead of any other musical reality show - and keep in mind this is a business and they have to make money like any other enterprise.
In another thread I saw a lively discussion an Raagas which in my opinion had lot of heat, passion and backslapping but no light and all those pseudo music ke maharathis could not agree on single point as to what is raaga based song.
I think raagas are like sanskrit language, created by, meant for and enjoyed by so called elites and actual music is the falk music and variation there of enjoyed by commoners like me who on any given day outnumber that multiplex crowd who make a totally outrageous movie like PAGE 3 a hit movie of the year. I think hum babua ganwaar log hi bhale hai. Ka samje. Go SRGMP and may the best guy win.

Sangeetaa you said it. We just got to see that 27th Jan episode. he was horrible. I just wanted to immediately listen to the original version to cleanse my ears..
Just imagine, immediately after Vinit sang tum mile, Hema sang his Ramta Jogi... What a contrast.. Any hard core Vinit's fan with little musical sense would have switched sides that day... Vinit needs to be moulded under proper hands and its high time his parents realise that.

DJDEEP:

I agree that we should have respect for the talent of MD's. It is very difficult
to make music or even copy it to Indian tastes.

But the mentors are aduls and I will not spare them for their unfair remarks
or manipulation. It is disgraceful for them to use their positions to hurt
rather than help future singers. They have lost my respect to some extent.

The point is all 3 were besura at some point that day...so if you want some more dough keep betting,

unless your personal bias (Hema besura? unthinkable, lets not talk about that) prevents you from doing so...

I repeat all 3 were besura ...but I'm not criticizing them, those were difficult songs. But its an imperfect world we live in, as proved time and agin by forum members.

I was a big fan of Vinit and Himani, but now I hate them after they alongwith Hema walked out from the show when Debojit got the highest no. of votes. I don't care whether Vinit wins or not. I don't care whether Vinit and Himani succeed as a singers or not. I am anyway not going to like their songs hereafter. Attitude is very important. Overconfidence and arrogance will lead them no where.
