Okay, this is the heights.
I've been accused of things I never said on this thread
1) Varshaji and Parneetha have been hinting that I said that Hemu can't sing t high notes. If you have the guts, sya my name out aloud. If you had bothered to read my analysis carefully, I only said Hemu lacks a certain finesse at high notes. What's wrong in that? Ask Nirajji, Bhaktada, Tansenji, appa rao...any one who's a trained musician, they'll tell you the same
2) Parineeta, i am certain you never read anything fully. Show me where I said Vande Mataram is an easy song that's why ARR sang it, and I promise I'll never, in my life, talk about music another day. That's a promise 'cross my heart. Infact, one of my friends said it, and i refuted them openly. Vande Mataram is a difficult song to sing, and Hema sang it exceptionally well.
3) Vande Mataram as a song has absolutely no Taans. Please don't brand any harkat as a taan. A taan is a totally different thing
Taan = a melodic passage of notes from all three octaves specific to a raga interwoven to a fast tempo which echo the imagination and command of a singer. Vande Mataram does not have taans. Shall I tell you why? Because ARR sang it. ARR is a singer trained in the Carnatic Style. Taans are a concept specific to the Hindustani style. Yes, there are NO taans in carnatic music. Hence, any carnatic vocalist doesn't sing taans.
Whereas Na To Karvaan has 2 taans...once when the tempo dies after the last 'Laaj rakho more ghunghat pat ki' and after Rafi finishes 'Inteha yeh hai ki bande ko khuda karta hai ishq'...after that, Mannada starts off in the Gamak-Taan to finish the song. There are very few songs where Taans have been incorporated. The ones which come to mind are - Madhuban mein radhika, prem jogan ban ke, aaj gawat man mero, ketaki gulab juhi, na to karvan ki talash, lapak jhapak tu aa re badarwa, jhanak jhanak tori baaje (just a small bol-taan)
Get your facts right before you bash people.
And yeah, i don't need to, but seeing this bitterness on this thread, I'll reiterate what i've always maintained. I am a Sharib-Hema-Nihira-Swanada fan. My close friends on this forum know it. Now that Hema is out, I'll support Debo wholeheartedly.
Pah.. đĄ
