Sorry guys , I think ARR is a very ordinary composer. His versatility is missing. Just by hearing the song you can make it is composed by none other than ARR. He uses too much south Indian instrument.
If some one compose only 20-25 songs in 15 years, then every film would be hit. I don't like him at all

If you can't make out who is composer of the song it means he doesn't leave signature...all great composers like RDB, Salilda, IR have a hall mark, and they are proud of it...
Who are good composers in your opinion.....??
Also plz explain what South Indian instruments you have marked in his compositions with relevant examples.......

Take the example of RDB
The amount of using different instrument is amazing. But ARR uses same type instrument in all the songs of a movie. So it sounds monotouns.Roza is the perfect example.

Why don't you guys consider about Shiv-Hari as great musician ? They composed in only 8 movies and all songs were great hits. Even in Parampara where the movie was flop, songs went out to be big hit.

Why don't you say Khyaaim is one the greatest composer ? Didn't you like Kabhi-Kabhi or Trishul or Umrao Jaan or Parbat ke us paar ?

No, they are not considered as greatest composers, but ARR, Why ? If he was born during RDs time I doubt what he would do ?

Guys accept the fact. Roza came out in 1991 and in 15 years he composed 15 movies. If you spend 1 year ( that I doubt, he does tamil etc.) anybody could give good music.
I saw Bombay Dreams in London (NY was big flop). Most of the songs were from his previous movies.

Tell me how bad is just chill chill from Sakalaka baby ?
I heard he got a dipoloma/certficate course from Trinity school of music in London. What a big deal ? My teacher (In India,I also play keyboard) also had a dipolam from Trinity college.

FYI Illaiya Raja's qualification is also same, but I hope you will agree that IR is a legend in himself, more than qualification what matters is growing & diversifying every day in your career, which ARR certainly has done.
BTW Pancham's formal education is learning Sarod from Ustad Ali Akbar Khan...rest he has learnt mostly from his father, in Pancham's own words:
"
I don't say that I am a knowledgeable man when it comes to raags.
I don't say I tried to do so and so song in Raag Darbari or attempted
some difficult raag in another song. Whatever comes to my head I compose.
" I quote

but if you are a Pancham fan you would agree that amount of raaga he has used is astonishing.
Im also a huge Pancham fan which is evident from my signature, Ive done quite a research on his music: Hindi, Bangla, Marathi........
His expt were class apart no doubt but there is no point comparing ARR Vs Pancham, they are composers of diff style & mode.
Furthur the South Indian instruments you have mentioned havn't been used in ROJA
,
I hope you are aware that he is prolific musician in Tamil/Teleugu movies as well & the no. of his movies is much more than 15...!!
I rest my case here, if you think ARR is a crap musician, please leave him in peace, he has enough fans like me....we son't get tired of listening to neither him nor Pancham.

>>I rest my case here, if you think ARR is a crap musician,

Again, I never said he is crap/bad/ etc. etc. I have enough respect for him. To that matter he did compose some good songs. But I refuse to agree with you guys that he is the greatest and I have enough points in my earlier posts.
May be I am not knowledgeable as you guys, but only in Lagaan I found its very different tune than rest of his music.
I adore those people who are versatile. I wouldn't call Shiv-Hari as the top musician beucase their tunes are mainly on folk/country side.
Sorry to say, Annu Malik is more versatile than ARR. From Main khilari tu Anari to Fiza or from Sun sun barsat ki dhun (Sir) to Chali kaisi hawa (Main hu nah) he proved he can be treated as more versatile than lot of other so called greatest composer and as far as copying music is concerned who didn't do it ?

I am not here to argue with you all, will leave this thread.

Thanks all
