I read this interview only NOW when Soulsoup informed me about the compiling of musical threads. What an eyeopener about the life and times of India's greatest male playback singer. I used to think that Rafi's wife must be the most blessed woman in the world, who would wake up to Rafi whispering "Ai husn zara jaag tujhe ishq jagaaye" into her ears or "Abhi na jaao chod kar", when she went to do the household chores! But the poor lady says she had been brought up not to like music and that she never discussed music with him!
To think that Rafi infused his voice with all that romance, yearning, longing despite leading such an ordinary, routine life!
Yep, Rafi was almost as good as "Binita Singhania" (yes, thats actually a singer and there were no personal slurs here so hopefully I wont be banned) 😆...
Now (specially for Punjini ji), Mahendra Kapoor was so much better... 😛😆
