Nihira's selections - as N Sinha mentioned, are almost always flawless. I loved HRHK's rendition by her and Yayi Re.

Debo's selections - Ek Main hoon (Fida) ... great all round performance. I think he should concentrate more on his singing...the dancing detracts from his overall performance quality.

Vinit's selections - Lakshya and Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya were excellent.

Hema's selections - Wo Lamhein Wo baatein, Saathiya...were wonderfully done

Ujjaini's selections - Black ... one word for her rendition: beautiful

Himani's selections - I especially liked her rendition of Ni main yaar manana ni and I wanna Make Love to you.

Sanchali's - Gusthakiyaan was brilliant.

Raktima's selection - Yeh haseen waadiyan yeh khula aasmaan (Roja, I think)...lovely work, but thats after which she got eliminated.

nice post abhilash........
niraj ji another great topic from you.....wow......

i would like to add twinkle's "Hungama ho gaya" to ur list...i think she sang great.

in yesterday's episode in u.s , nihira sang "kajara re"... she added some (i dont know what u call that)"sa re ga ma pa da ni sa" s in the end(for which she gave credit to ID) she sang that song superbly.....
hema sang "woh lamhe woh baate" and he did full justice to the song...it was just great...

Well, Nikhil, the Raag theory in itself is very very difficult to understand. let me outline it very briefly; I'll just try to the best of my knowledge...

A Raag is defined in English as a scale. Right...but it's only fractionally correct. True, a Raag is sung only a particular scale in a particular octave. But it involves numerous things which are very essential.

A Raag or a Ragam, as known in Carnatic music, consists of An Aaroh and an Avroh. Aaroh is the ascending note order, and Avroh is the descening order.

Some Raags have all the seven notes, some six and some 5. A Raag CANNOT have less than 5. And..the Madhyam and the Pancham Swars are the most important notes. AS said on the show that the 'Pa' swar is like the middle stump in cricket. Very true. The whole mood of the Raag is built around the Ma and Pa swars.

Each Raag conveys a Rasa. There are 9 Rasas. Rasa is 'flavour'...err....but here it's an emotion.
1) Shringara - Bipasha Basu...Sexy...err..Erotic
2) Hasya - Asrani
3) Karuna - Meena Kumari (Pathos)
4) Raudra - As the name suggests...Anger
5) Veera - Sunny Deol (Valour)
6) Bhayanaka - Exorcist
7) Vibhasta - HR....(disgust)
8) Adbhuta - Lataji (Wondrous...)
9) Shanta - Shantibai...hehe (Peace)

These are very well depicted in the Raag Mala paintings of Rajasthan. I don't think it's necessary to tell you that the Kamasutra is devoted entirely to Shringara Rasa..I wonder why composed our National Anthem in Shringar Rasa 😆 😆 😆 .

There are 6 Raags and their corresponding many Raaginis. No wonder kings in those days had many wives...lucky buggers.

Each raag is dervied from a base scale called the Thaat.

I thought Fiza and Tera Jadoo chal gaya contained a lot of variations from high to low.
Same with Jiya Dhadak Dhadak and Kacche Dhaage
I liked Kya Hua Tera Vaada and Saathiya from Hema and Vineet. Beautiful expressions by each one.
