Ok, now I an even more annoyed if this is true. Dipanitwa was a winner or runner up of SRGMP Bangla so maybe she would have done better in her mother tongue. I will bet that Sniti would have kicked ass on Oriya songs. Then again there is Abhilasha who is so good in Marathi (I think she won SRGMP Marathi) and I believe she is Tamilian (not sure here) so I am not sure what would help her. I am not trying to start some sort of regional war here (still having nightmares from C-2005) but I have to say that somehow Kamal's disproportionate selection of Punjabi songs has gotten on my last nerve. I think that it is an unfair advantage but maybe being Punjabi gives you an advantage in music now a days in a way that being a trained Bharat Natyam dancer was an advantage in movies. But then again you can always pretend to be Punjabi like Prtiam does -- that seems to work too. I don't want to offend anyone and Kamal is a good singer but I am really glad that I am not the only person in the world who feels this way.

I disagree with the above comment as Punjabi and Hindi both languages are similar except last word is little bit different whereas other languages mentioned above are very very from hindi and panjabi.

It is called as bashing. It is outlook of judges and zee. If you do not like him, then, do not vote him. How can you bash here and how can you stop us for not voting him. Most of the audience in the world like his songs and language, so, we need him in the contest and we want his Punjabi songs.

For you or for less number of audience, Bollywood will not change their rules.

Moreover, Kamal Khan sang lot of Hindi songs.

If you still have objection, then, this site will not help you. You had to talk with Zee TV long time ago. It is too late now as only one song is left and after that there would be starting of final preparation wherein Kamal Khan would be winner.

People can sing in hindi srgmp in whatever language they want because they are comfortable....is this allowed.?Is hindi being replaced by bengali..urudu..marathi and gujarati...I still do not understand how can one have any other language in hindi srgmp other than hindi. We have marathi srgmp..bengali srgmp..punjabi srgmp so on and so forth.People switch on the tv sets to watch hindi srgmp but not to listen to other languages. Why would I want to listen to something I cant understand😕

Would you avoid a Bollywood movie just because it has a Punjabi song? By the extension of that logic I would not watch Jab we met cuz it had mauja and nagada.
If these songs are in Hindi movies there is no reason not to include in Saregamapa.
Like it or not, Punjabi songs are a part of mainstream Bollywood now.
BTW the power of regional music is measured by how many listen to it who do not follow that language. A very good example is Ghulam ali's Awargi that Ranjeet performed last week. A lot of ghazal fans do not follow Urdu (including myself), but that ghazal is so good that even those who do not understand try to learn its lyrics.

Very well said biswita ji, being a Punjabi I agree with you.😆 Thanks for your support.😊 May God bless you.
Thanks Amukta sis. for opening such a great topic for Punjabi fans. I guess Punjabi music and songs are pupular throughout the world now.
If you notice, Bollywood has always used Punjabi lyrics and music. Do you remember Ni mai yaar manana ni chahe log boliya bole - movie Daag, tere rab ne bana di jodi - Suhaag, Angregi mai kehte hai ki I love you etc, list goes on.
Kamal sang non punjabi song yesterday and he did well.😊
Yaar aap kamal ko kehte ho ki Punjabi song gata hai, pehlee jakar Bankim Chandra chatopadhaiya ji ko bole jisne, National Anthem mai bhi punjab ka naam sebsee pehlee likha hai 😆-
Jan gan man adhi nayak jai ho,
Bharat bhagya vidhata,
Punjab, Sindh, Gujrat, Maratha,
Dravid utkal bang.
Having said this, here is a group of Americans dancing on Punjabi music.😆
