You are right when you say they are practicing for a stage show rather singing competition. I used to watch it with so much enthusiasm(sp) in 2007 then 2009 goes down a little bit but 2010 is totally disgusting especially coz of the mentors behaviour. I wonder what happen to Vishal and Shekar? they used to do very sensible comments on the singing of the contestants which a watcher also learn something but now the most they say is SUR hil rahe the.

YES - I agree totally!! When I first saw the judges list I was like thank god at least vishal shekhar are there - they used to be so dignified in the earlier series.. vishal even used to openly put other mentors down when they would play upon some romantic angle of the contestants, saying this platform is meant for singing and nothing else!! That's why it is sad, disgusting and shocking to see the change in them. Has success gone to their heads? As u said, they say sur is not proper or at times shekhar says - if I was the composer and had heard u bfore, u would've sung this song!!" - too repetitive comments, all scripted - utter chaos and drama
