Hi, I'm Sandeepa, based in the U.S., loving SRGMP-C2005! I'm addicted to the show and this forum. Was on the JJKN forum but the show got boring and the forum got downright vicious, so I quit posting for a while. By the way, sorry if mod has to move this post to correct place in forum if i post incorrectly. Also, anything i say is my opinion and I know so many of you will disagree with me, but I'm not saying my comments to offend any of you or the contestants on the show, so please don't take it personally.
O.k., been reading the "spoilers"...latest is that Rajeev will be out. I feel sorry for him, but I think it's the first corrrect decision janta will make in a long time. I was VERY upset when Sharib was ousted. 😭 I thought it was a completely unfair and stupid decision. Sharib was the best male singer on the show, even better than Vinit, I feel. Sharib was my favorite and I cried when he was eliminated. I was very angry that Rajeev got a green in the same episode that Sharib was ousted...and Himani got a yellow, which was really, really unbelieveable. 😡 I feel that Rajeev should've been ousted in that episode instead of Sharib...or if it was down to Twinkle and Sharib, Twinkle should have been eliminated. Perhaps Zee manipulated the results and ousted a boy since two girls (Rakhtima and Swananda) were ousted and they needed to oust a boy this time (which should've been Rajeev not Sharib). None of them are bad singers, but clearly some are better than others. Sharib was one of the best ones. I wish at least Twinkle and Sharib were tied like Hemachandra and Nihira in the latest episode (airing tonight in U.S.), but to throw Sharib out...big mistake on the part of janta.
The reason I feel sorry for Rajeev is that he came to this show with the intention to win like all the others. He has a dream like they all do, but he his only fault is that he has no voice training and is older than most of the others (which makes getting a singing career started a bit harder). I think there were times Rajeev sang well, but he really screwed up twice by choosing songs completely out of his range (knowing that he doesn't have a very big range which is another sign of an inexperienced singer), and that's really when he should've been out instead of Swananda. Hopefully after he leaves he will enroll in some kind of voice classes and improve his singing so that one day he might be able to compete again. Let's not forget: The Legendary Kishore Kumar had no training, he was a natural born singer, so sometimes people with no training can be good. I am by no means comparing Rajeev to Kishor da, I'm just saying sometimes singing can be a natural talent but not necessarily with Rajeev because he needs to improve and study the craft.
My current favorites are Himani and Hemachandra. I think Nihira is excellent and a superb singer, but singers with her voice quality come a dime a dozen. She's in the genre of Alka ji, Shreya, and other high-pitched female playback singers who are somewhat limited in what they can sing (e.g. there's no way Alka or Shreya could sing a song like Dhoom Machale). Himani on the other hand has an incredible range..she's like Asha ji, Alka ji, Gaytri Iyer, Chitra, Mahalaxmi Iyer and Sunidhi all rolled into one. She sounds fantastic and can handle songs of every type. Himani's performances are more interesting and emotion-evoking than Nihira's. I honestly didn't like Nihira's Hare Rama Hare Krsna number. I thought she sounded awful in the Usha Uthup parts, although very nice in the Asha ji parts.
Among boys...I used to like Vinit until HR turned the whole thing into a joke by promoting the crap out of him. He really overdid it and now Vinit is not appealing to me at all, especially after the click in the track incident (yes AS was harsh, but HR was in the wrong by doctoring the track to help Vinit...why not let AS doctor Rajeev's track to help him then? Why not change all the tracks to suit the singers then?) I can't stand HR's attitude. I think he gives excellent music (love the Tere Naam soundtrack) but his attitude really stinks. I really feel like ripping the cap off of his and Vinit's heads sometimes to put an end to all this topi tamasha. I really hated how he interupted Vinit and put the cap on his head in the SLB round and then just gave him another song for the hell of it. And I really hate the way he begs for janta's votes for Vinit. What about Paresh and Ujjaini? If he gave them the least bit of attention they could really improve and rise to the level that Vinit is in HR's eyes. Very unfair. Vinit has a great voice and can be an award winning playback singer some day but his voice needs to mature before that happens. Sharib was better than Vinit and although the same age, he had a more mature voice. Vinit should be careful because his ego might get very puffed up after all this coddling from HR. One's abhimaan is always the main reason for failure in the future. So he may be riding the wave of success now but if HR keeps up his behaviour he will only end up hurting Vinit instead of helping him.
