Recently while holidaying in India, I borrowed a mobile phone and enthusiastically sent five SMSes each to my favourites i.e., Debo and Hema.
While returning the mobile phone, I mentioned that I sent 10 SMSes. I was surprised to see the bewildered look on my (mobile phone) lender's face. He then explained the whole story behind the SMS.
Understand each SMS costs around Rs. 5 to 6. Out of which I am sure the telecom companies will be sharing a portion with ZEE (i.e. for SRGMP). Now I understand why the SRGMP producers want public voting!
Just figure out how much money will be generated even only 50 lakh SMSes are received!
My point here is - if ZEE is making so much money, why are they so stingy in rewarding the ultimate winners??? (remember the two bed-room flat on lease for two years for free story?)
Please let me know if my above understanding on SMS mechanism is wrong. Thanks.
