"Saanware" IS (technically) NOT a classical song at all😆. It has no raag base. Loads of mudkis and harkats do not always make a song classical.
However, I'd concede, Saanware is a very soulful song.
And, about Hemant -- overall he is much better than (besura) Mussarat.
Comparing Hemant's version to Aamir Hafiz....
Double Bingo!👏
Aamir's version is somehow no longer on you tube
Mussarat besura???😆Mussarat sang some songs pretty good. He had a lot of energy.

Actually Hemant ne is song ka kachra kar dia, he sang it very shallow. this song need depth in voice and proper use of throat. Classical song sung without use of thorat is as bad as moon without moonlight. It is the worst version of Saanwre I ever heard.
I will give 2 of 10 (4 for just showing courage to select this song and -2 for singing)

Now... it seems you are on the right track... it's the energy that instantly strikes you about Mussarat. But the more discerning the listener's ear is the quicker it separates the doodh from the paani.
Like all his diehard fans I too went gaga when I heard him first. Then, at some point, he had to sing other styles/genres and he fell flat. When Mussarat came back for another competition on Zee with a dancer I couldn't believe as he struggled to sing a single line in tune throughout the show even in his comfort zone. I am not exaggerating.
Appreciation of music or for that matter any form of art is entirely subjective. I shouldn't, or rather, mustn't force my view on others when it comes to expression, voice quality etc.. But when someone sings off-key, it becomes an objective thing, a fact.
It pains me and I feel strange when I say all this. "saanware" and "sajna re" had left a deep impact on me as well. But... inconsistency ki bhi to hadd hoti hai!
