I am netural as my favourite is gone. I think Debo should have gone before Nihra. He is not the same caliber.
ID made a big Natak. Actually he had no right to shout on anyone for he was a non sport. JL stuck till the end and ID cannot face defeat come on.
Dont forget this is a show on who sings well and not on what mentor wants.
This whole regional fight is unwanted. Bharat is one and should be voiced as one. Shaan has taken this regional thing too far and made it a mess. Himani lost because of this regional mess.

This is not 'Assam ka voice' but 'India ka voice,' yelled a young women after three brilliant singers decided to quit Zee's popular talent show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 last week. So why was she furious?

The truth tumbled out when a gentleman from the crowd stated vehemently, "Home ground 'value' is always there, and even in cricket it happens." Vineet, a strong claimant for the Challenge 2005 title, feebly responded, "But this is not cricket." The two others, Himani and Hema, nodded in agreement, their discomfiture writ large over their faces.

Other voices were lost in the din that followed with the three famous Bollywood 'mentors' on the show, Ismail, Adesh and Himesh, also losing their cool. The last that was seen on the channel were parents of the young singers also joining the fracas. As they gesticulated at each other, the programme got mired in a controversy that blatantly redefined the old aphorism, "Music is a language which knows no barriers."

Music buffs who believed in Lata Mangeshkar's words about music being the 'voice of God' are incensed. To their utter dismay, music has erected regional boundaries in this country. A contestant, Debu, gets 80 per cent support from the North-east; Vineet and Himani's support base is Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and other northern states; while Hema banks on an overwhelming support coming from the South. So much for national integration. So is A.R. Rehman now a South Indian musician, and Lata Mangeshkar a Maharashtrian?

The programme's anchor, Shaan, was proud that 70 lakh people took part in the programme by sending their vote either through sms or through phone. But people like me who are music buffs, find all this 'demographic' break-up of aesthetic taste extremely sad. Whatever happened to music one liked — irrespective of where it comes from?

Jarring notes in the Sa Re Ga show

Zee TV's Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge is neck-deep in controversy once again.

Three of the singing talent search show's contestants -- Himani, Vinit and Hemchandra -- quit. The reason cited was that they had been threatened by the outlawed militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom. But they returned to the show the next episode.

Earlier this month, Ismail Durbar, one of the judges, walked out of the television show. Because one of his students, Nihira, was voted out. The show divides contestants into gharanas, each gharana under the supervision of a judge.

"I got upset then [when Nihira was voted out], as I thought that was a wrong decision," says Durbar. "I wanted to quit at that very moment. But I was overcome with shock. And I did not want to go in silence. I wanted to quit in front of the audience, as I wanted them to know what was happening."

Durbar planned to walk out in the following episode, but it was a special episode featuring cricketer-turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu. And the Durbar, who has scored the music for hit Hindi movies like Devdaas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, changed his mind about walking out.

But when the other judges – music directors Aadesh Shrivastava and Himesh Reshammiya – gave less marks to another Durbar gharana contestant Debojit's performance, Durbar decided it was time.

He walked out of the show, saying the situation was too suffocating for him.

It was felt that the audience sympathised with Debojit and the 'injustice' done to him, and voted for him.

But now, Durbar is back, and he explains why.

"Gajendraji [Singh, the show's producer] came to my house the next morning and tried to convince me for five hours to return to the show. He told me that I was the only person who has always stood by the truth. I said I would return -- because I did not want him to suffer for no fault of his.

"Another reason was that Debojit told me that if I would quit, he would follow me, as he did not have anyone in Mumbai, and he would follow his mentor.

"I asked Debojit to clarify what was actually wrong, and the child started crying. He told me he was an engineer by profession. He worked hard to become a singer. He knew that if he quit with me, his singing career would be ruined. He also said he had no links with ULFA [Debojit is from Assam, and ULFA is an Assamese militant outfit], and that someone was plotting against him."

Does Durbar think Aadesh Shrivastava created the controversy?

"It is obvious but I will not take names for the sake of decency. I have tried telling Aadesh many times backstage."

The two music composers don't see eye to eye, and have had confrontations before.

It is not yet clear if ULFA actually threatened the contestants or not. Durbar claims Himani, Vinit and Hemchandra quit due to pressure.

"I know why they quit but I will not tell. They have quit under somebody's pressure. And the three of them told me this themselves," he says.

Incidentally, the episode after the ULFA threat drama, Himani was voted out.

"When I returned to the shoot, Himani [who was in Shrivastava's gharana] came crying to me and apologised so many times. I told her that she should take her own decisions, and not act under pressure."

Whatever has happenend and whatever is going on ...
The fact remains that Gajji's most pretegious show "sa Re Ga Ma Pa" has gone BONKER....

He has lost his face and the respect and reputation which he earned through all these years with his hard work, creativity and imaginantion.

I really feel sorry for the poor guy.

This bloody politics , regionalism and personal ego clash of music mentors marred the show very badly.

...but still i will say that though Debojit is a trained singer and improving day by day...VINIT is anyday better singer then him. The last four contestants should have been VINIT, HIMANI, NIHIRA , and ofcourse HEMACHANDRA. But....
now as ID said ...
" GAME IS OVER...GOODBYE !!!"

IS THIS MUSICAL TALENT SHOW OR POLITICAL ELECTION SHOW

all are very good singers, but Nihira is best.
I was very shocked with the removal of Nihira. This is bad for music, bad for the show, its injustice. She is the best singer among all. This is not simply right.
Also I was upset on Himani getting out. I think the girls have done very good. The boy are seeking votes best on emotional "Maaa Ka Sapnaaa" basis but not on talent. While the girls Nihira and Himani have asked vote on the basis of talent" if you like the song ". I would ask boys to grow up and be rational. Whatever the results are for me the winners are Nihira and Hemani.
Debojit , Vinit and Hema one advice for you, don't bring "Maa" to get the votes. It's not morally right. Ask votes on talent. Once you develop this habbit(talent support & not emotional support) no one can stop and you guys are good.
I also feel that its not Debojit's fault of getting more votes but I find wrong when he asks votes on basis of regional base. The "Voting system" Need to be change. It's wrong. Debojit is certainly not better then Nihira or Himani.
God bless you all and all the best for your future work and adventures. Don't give and be honest. Do e-mail me if you get chance.
Nihira you are the best, keep doing hard work and don't worry of this result. We all are proud of you and the way you have behaved with such mature composure, hat's off. You deserve far better.
Anyway coming straight to the point, I think voting system needs to improved. As far as I am seeing , it's being regionalized and not based on talent. It's very frustrating and I think people would loose confidence on such a great show coming down the time. It seems like even a candidate doesn't sing he will be voted because of bias regional/ethical support. This is not really good.
There should be "Weighted Scoring", based on talent and popularity. The judges should give un-biased support to candidates based on talent. They should tell people what parameters they should look for while voting. If you loose good contestants like Nihira and Sharib it's not really loss to them but for music industry and this show itself. Pleae do something otherwise people will loose the trust, this musical talent show not polictical/reginal biased show.
