akanna: thanks a lot for giving me some insight about how the songs are picked. I think as she got appreciation once, she started picking that kind of songs.
I think somebody should just mention that point. She is 8, and somehow I thought she must be 10-11. As a 8 year old, she seems very mature. Her mother seems young and down to earth.
overall, I like sheyasi the best. The other fact that amazes me is that she is a state level athlete (runner) and also persuing singing career. It seems she is very well behaved too.
somehow the creatives/judges (or whatever) picks out a line or fact and keep on pressing. e.g. about shalini the makeup etc etc, Swarit the bathroom thing, and about antara that she is overweight. I am sure antara or her family does not like that.

You are most welcome! In fact Shalini (to me at least) seems to be a singer of just one genre of songs - the rock n roll fast beat ones... When she sang Piya Re, her flaws were very visible in it... And Debolina sang way better than her in the sufi round and yet got eliminated! Some scripting!!

Yes, I also thought Shalini to be over 10 years old, and she looks older than 10 - could be her heels and makeup, but she lacks the innocence of an eight year old - imho... Even with the cute factor, I think all kids are cute and Priyanka is the cutest of all gals... Then Antara with her simplicity and innocence... I always feel Shreyasi looks quite a bit like Smitha Nandi from LC2 - do you reckon?

I also like Shreyasi the most!! In the audition I liked Antara the most!! And now Shreyasi by all means! I can see that Abhijeet is also supporting her as she is the true talent in singing!! Alka seems to be quite biased unfortunately... I like Yatharth too - his voice is very unique and has a great charm, a pleasant one too...

They talked about Antara being overweight?? Amidst the screeching bak bak of the hosts, I tend to shut down my ears!! So I might have missed that part.. That isnt nice to talk about an 8 year old girl - she will be out of that baby fat when she grows up, as many kids do... Shalini's makeup thing is driving me nuts! LOL... Swarit's rest room run was hilarious! But they shouldnt be embarrassing him about it again...

I also support Shreyasi, but Yatharth is undoubtedly the most talented singer out there. However over confident is a boon, not a bane. I hope he overcomes that. I would love to hear him sing pure classical like Aishwarya- Anwesha did. Priyanka is fantastic in semi-classical The standard of the show is very high as even the middle-level singers like Abhigyan, Hemant, Yashodhan,Farah, debolina are all very good. sad that a few of them are eliminated

Hey, good to see you here! Welcome!! 😃

Yes, I had a lot of respect for Kunal when he showed the guts to call Khushi's choreographer and asked them not to make her do adult moves! But by then Khushi had already gotten used to those expressions that she was doing that even when she was talking! I felt sorry for her that her innocence was lost in that aspect... Her mom appeared to be more innocent than her!!

I dont about the dieting part as I didnt pay attention to that talk... But I agree with you that the mentors have a hand in the selection of songs. But I dont think Alka enforces the songs on the contestants - either the singers suggest what they like and she might be picking one for them or she might be suggesting a few songs and they might be picking one... I know that each contestant has to provide a list of song selections to Zee every week and then the channel makes the final pick for each singer. If the singer makes the choices, I am sure the parents can have a hand in the decision before the list is submitted.

Anyway I was even more shocked to hear Yashita sing "I want to make love" song on national TV in the name of the competition!!! 😲 Shalini's zara zara song was a very adult song, and any adult with a sound mind wouldnt have suggested that to a little girl. So if Alka did that, someone should have raised the objection to her... IMHO...

In srgmp (adult) the contestants have to provide a list as per Amanat Ali's in one of his interviews. In kids srgmp someone else give the songs not the mentors. I know about Aamir Hafiz he does not like some of the songs, his brother tried to change but they wont change it and he has to sing it.
So the bottom line is neither the parents nor the mentors have anything to do with the song selection.

Shalini's pronounciation is so unclear! Its very difficult to make sense of the wording when she sings!

Yes, i kinda noticed that she's got a weird pronunciation. I hope it's just her accent coz hindi is not her native language and I pray to God that it's not mild lisping.

But I didn't find her performances and expressions over the top. They were OKAY for god's love!!!! She was only trying to convey the feel of the song through her singing and I don't think it was soooo vulgar that it takes her innocence away and all. People just make a mountain out of a molehill. Blame it to the one who chose songs like "zara zara touch me touch me...kiss me kiss me....hold me hold me" for a kid.😲 I doubt if an eight year old would actually know what that's all about. At least i didn't know about all those stuffs until i started learning biology in detail😳.

Thank you, Mike. I heard about the list from the big kids' SRGMP - mentioned by Raja and all... So I assumed it would be the same for LC too... So who is that "someone else" who gives the songs to these kids if not mentors or parents?? So does it mean that the kids have to sing only that song or they get to choose from a list? If Shalini ends up getting all the fast numbers, her flaws will become invisible, which would work against the talented singers in there, like it already did for Farah and Debolina...
