In srgmp (adult) the contestants have to provide a list as per Amanat Ali's in one of his interviews. In kids srgmp someone else give the songs not the mentors. I know about Aamir Hafiz he does not like some of the songs, his brother tried to change but they wont change it and he has to sing it.

So the bottom line is neither the parents nor the mentors have anything to do with the song selection.

They need to ensure that the same song is not sung more than once generally.

Also sometimes if all the songs selected are too boring it will be a problem.
