I think each contestant has something different to offer.Swananda has a sweet voice, but I can't see her carrying off a song with an edge to it,like the "Rock me baby " that Himani sang.Like Rajeev, Twinkle has a different voice, not always suited to sugary sweet songs that Swananda can carry. As a performer, Twinkle definitely is the best amongst the girls.Himani is more versatile, but does better with high energy songs or songs with an edge. She is the kind of singer who will sing songs that become hits ,but not songs you remember 15-20 years down the road. Can you imagine singing with "Rock me Baby, Take me Baby" when you are in your fiftees ???!!! I find Nihira to have the best voice to carry different songs, even though Himani may do better with the edgy songs. But Nihira is a pure singer, and not a performer. That, along with the fact that since she won a green card each time the first time out, she does not get much T.V. time. The voting public have not had a chance to bond with her, as have the others. That ,I am afraid is going to hurt her chance of winning. People generally vote for who they have invested in for a period of time.I think it is going to be close between Himani and Nihira. Nihira needs a dance and performing instructor ASAP. My vote goes to Nihira.

I think Nihira has a wonderful voice, great on sur, some of her songs like chhalka chhalka re have been great, but I genuinely feel that her songs sometimes lack the feel... and I truely mean expressions in the song (no facial expressions or dancing skills here).. also I would believe that she cannot sing all kind of songs.. to be a successful playback singer you need to be very very versatile... I think Swananda has similar limitations as Nihira...... I think Himani or Ujjaini would beat Nihira/Swananda outright in this front.. and although they might not have as clean a voice as Nihira.. they are equally pukka on sur and far more versatile.. that is what makes them complete singers.

Aren't expression in song enough along with sur, taal & great voice for a playback singer?? Why do people need to really see singer's facial expressions or dancing capabilities when they are listening the song? If the best singer has all those other atributes besides excellent singing than it is great but that should not be the judging criteria. IF Nihira looses out to a second best singer because that person can dance or perform but does not sing as good than I don't know what to say.

Totally agree with you !!!

Again this is my opinion only.

👏 well said !!

I never really concentrated on Nihira before, untill I saw your comments. But I think she is really good and has very sweet and clear voice. I think she will win if they judge them with their vocals. I don't know why they made this show about performance more, can you imagine Lataji dancing.
It is called Sa re ga ma pa, so it should be about sur and voice. Paresh is there and Abhijeet got out just because of that. Mentors made him concentrate more on his actions.
Just my two cents, no one has to agree 😊

IMO, Nihira is definitely a class apart from the other participants. I have hardly heard nihira goofing up her sur-taal. Though, rest of the girls are good too, they have never been consistent. ujjaini, swananda often go off-key though they have great voice and range. himani is great for energetic songs but gets flat on slow beats. twinkle has a husky voice with masti etc but has limitations with upper notes. raktima is talented but fails in her voice quality. It is true that we have heard nihira mostly singing old songs but her "kehna hi kya", "chhalka chhalka re", "aakhon ki gustakhiyan" have been equally remarkable. whether she wins this contest or not, i think she is there to stay as far as the music industry is conerned..... ppl will definitely like to hear more from her.

I won't debate with you on Twinkle's singing. And I think that the age of the participant is irrelevant to an extent. Anyways, just because you think that Twinkle should not be criticized, or others actions should be criticized before Twinkle, it does not mean that you should be calling another participant a slut... Just my opinion... I agree that the winner should have a good character as well because they will be role models for the younger generation... but I think people are carried away with the name-calling...

My comments on all 3:

Nihira:

Flawless technique, but a boring performer. Her voice has nothing really different to it; its the conventional female playback singer voice. I personally find that kind of voice boring, but she's the potential winner of SRGMP and has a future as a playback artiste.

Himani:

Strong, versatile voice, an entertainer. But, her technique is not nearly as perfect as Nihira's. Himani is the kind of singer who can not only make it in playback, but also release independent albums, music videos, etc. Bright future ahead of her.

Swananda:

Sweet voice; another conventional singer with good technique. However, I doubt her voice can handle numbers requiring stronger vocals. Has given several performances, but none of them have really made an impact on me.

I felt rather sad after reading this post.

Nihira sang Chalka Re ,a very difficult song. Then she sang Kahna hi kya with sargam, another difficult song with a very long mukhada.

The yard stick to judge a good singer should not be if he/she can sing a western type of song, but rather the other way round. If she/he can sing a simlple melody.

Anuradha Podwal had come to Sa Re Ga Ma Pa as a judge once and she had advised the participants to concentrate on basic singing and not on harkaten.

A good singer has to be strong in fudamentals first.

Totally agree.. even in this series, the judges have often commented that the mentors have given difficult songs to participants and they have not carried it well.. I think it can actually be difficult to sing a simple song and impress others and Nihira can do that...
I think we should not classify songs based on this that western is tough or whatever.. Nihira is a great singer and may be she is more confortable singing more melodious, romantic kind of songs, because that suits her voice.. Similarly, Himani is more confortable singing Sufi, Folk or Western kind of songs.. She may not render say Chupke se from Sathiya that well.. Her voice is different..
The singers should know what kind of songs suit their voice and chosse accordingly.. No point experimenting with something just to prove a point, they might end up singing badly..
I think Himani selected a perfect song for her voice on 11/11 and was fantastic.. So did Raktima.. but Nihira did not do so.. They really need to know their strong points and choose songs accordingly..
