I am starting this new topic as I had asked this question in another thread but there were no replies and I dont think it was noticed. Hence starting a new topic.
I last weeks episode, there was this huge drama about Sara not wanting to sing, the reason she gave was that many people back home (in pakistan) are not happy about her singing (being a girl i suppose) on the stage and there are lot of things which are being said and written about her. All this negative talk and attempts to put the girl in her right place seems to have got to her mentally and she is not able to sing. Hence she was withdrawing from the competition.
What I want to ask other members (specially those who are from Pakistan), is this true and to what extent ? I mean is there a huge hue and cry out there because she is singing and it is seen as a negative. Are they having articles in newspapers which are objecting to it or are there any news channels which have taken out stories. In general what is the mood there about her singing here ? Is it seen in bad light with many people objecting. If so, then what is the extent ?
I am very curious to know. I dont feel that what she is saying (or being made to say) is true. I mean yes there could be a voice or two but nothing which suggests that a lot of people are against it. Frankly speaking what ever is going on in both countries, I dont think people even have the time to think about such trivial topics with such larger National interest topics on hand. It seems only a figment of her imagination (or someone else) that she has become so popular overnight that people are bothered about her.
If what I feel is true i.e. there is nothing like that and She (or Zee Team) is playing this card to garner votes/trp, then it is pathetic and they should be careful. It is a question of the image of a nation. This show is going to so many countries and if other people see this and take it on face value then they may have views about the people of a nation which may be far from truth. I am not able to elaborate more on this because I dont want the topic to move away from the core question, but I hope you guys understand what I mean.
If not true, then some NGO or Govt organisation from Pakistan should sue Zee TV.
Would like your views on this. Also I would request member to stick to the topic and discuss in a calm manner. And please do not take offence to what I have written, intentions are not to upset anyone.

oh great another thread that will be full of xenophobic posts!

anyway i don't get what Sara did that was so wrong, she didn't say the whole country was against her..during the drama (which could most likely be orchestrated by the producers) she said "ONE COMMENT" that wasn't in good taste

she never said the whole country were losing their sleep over her..

and this isn't the first time that Zee has pulled a stunt like this..

where were these "conscientious" people when they did the whole "Debojit is special" bit in one of the episodes.. i didn't see a thread with 20 pages full of hate posts showing their outrage.. no one questioned his "special-ness" and asked for an independent team of medical doctors/psychologists to do an assessment over his condition to find out if it was all a lie orchestrated by the producers...

there have been far more sensitive issues being exploited in these shows before this, but this time it is a bit different because of Sara's nationality (now don't say that isn't the reason, it is plain obvious reading all the hateful posts by a lot of people in this forum).. she is being picked on for everything she does.. tomorrow if she sneezes on the show, people would complain about her sneezing and how it is offensive..

the girl comes across as a nice enough girl and i like her singing.. unfortunately all i know about her is what i see on the show..unlike majority of her detractors who seem to know her personally and know what's going on in her head and analyze every single word she says to prove that she is some sort of an evil person..

Please do not bring Sara's nationality into this as the reason for the topic is not got anything to do with her nationality. Also if you see that episode again, although they do say that there was one nasty comment but her mom and she also mention that there is opposition. All I want to know if that is true and to what extent.

In India so many news channels cover all this Reality show drama and discuss them at length, I dont know what is it like in other countries. I can assure you that if it was the other way round that an Indian contestant had said something like that on a show abroad, all news channels would have stories on it and all papers like Mid-day, Mumbai mirror, afternoon etc would have covered it. So I am just curious to know what it is like in this case.

Why are you getting so annoyed with this ? I am not saying she is an evil person or anything like that and nor I am making this a country issue.

As far as Debojit goes, he is not even mentioned in the topic. With regards to your query, all I can say is that He is SPECIAL. I have seen him from his early days when he had come in Indian Idol 1 and had a tiff with Farah and also seen him on some Bangla channels and shows. His behaviour I would certainly not categorize as normal. But again, as I said, this topic is not about Debo.

dude i am not annoyed at your post..

and don't bring nationality to this? umm like hello? a topic like this WILL involve her nationality discussion.. i didn't randomly bring it up, i cited reasons and if you read my whole post you would understand why it was brought up.. i said she is getting all the criticisms only because of where she comes from and that is the truth.. i never said YOUR post has to do with it and if you have read all the nasty posts about her in other threads, it would be clear as well.. and i was talking in general, i didn't say you said she was evil or you are hateful or whatever..

and i used Debo as an example.. i definitely don't think Sara is deserving of all the brick bats thrown at her from all sides IN THIS FORUM.. and my posts referred to Sara and various other posts regarding her in this forum recently..

the discussion will be restricting and one sided if you stick to only the words in the original post and not cite other events and people that are related to the original discussion...

It is unusual. I thought Pakistan was behind her all the way. There seem to be some who object because Zee may make her wear clothes that are too revealing and nonconforming.
But if she is eliminated there will be a bigger hue and cry.

Jade, thanks so much for the link, it made for some interesting reading. Man that girl is really taking some bashing. The views so far which I have read suggest that they are mad at her either this way or that way.
But what I feel that even if this was genuine (that she did not want to sing due to pressure or talk back home) then she should have said that outside the stage i.e. before the show and to the director.
Once she says these things on stage in full costume and make-up and more than eager mom, it becomes a gimmick and lacks any truth.
Even if the channel would have shown a clipping (for TRP) that she approached the director or the Gurus earlier (i.e. before the shoot began) with this problem and they convinced her to continue then it would still seem genuine.
But one thing is sure that her antics are not being appreciated by a very large number of people on both sides of the border. I hope that in future she stays away from these regular gimmicks and tries to sing to the best of her ability.

Firstly, I am not a dude but a dudette (i.e. if there is no maximum age limit for being called a dudette). Secondly I have not taken offence to your post. Its okay, I suppose you like her and see this in a different way. I dont like her much and find her antics (for me they are antics) a bit too hard to handle. To each his own.

😆😆
At SRGMP almost every contestant will sooner or later be required to put on an act or do something stupid. But in the olden days it was strictly business. Guess times have changed.
