The episode was rhythm based and the rhythm was being created by unconventional 'instruments'. Jasraj's composition was the most apt one for that episode. He composed it from interludes from Rahman's songs (I hope the Telugu interlude is also Rahman's) and there were three rhythms in it (with three different 'matras'). It is unfortunate people expect to listen to what they already know. Renu Nagar got 80% despite consistently missing the 'taal'. Himanshu should have got the performer of the day. The song was more complex and he introduced amazing nuances. Jasraj's was as unconventional as the instruments being used for creating rhythm.

Let us do constructive criticism if at all we need to do it. And, I find it funny that some people hear Jaraj with a preconceived decision to find mistakes. If his singing gives belly ache and head ache why listen? I remember when I was young one of my uncles telling me that Mohd. Rafi shouts and this comment was with respect to his Biju Baawra songs. KL Saigal, KC Day and others were his favorite singers. Ones likes and dislikes are conditioned and if one wants to enjoy music one has to be rid of conditioning.

Jasraj is an amazing singer & I havent seen any versatile singer like this in Saregamapa

I am an event manager & a producer.. to me what matters is package. Jasraj is an amazing package

flawless singing, stage appearance, attitude, style & yes ability to connect with the audience

he is a star.. I bet

He is not package but he has been given great advantage to sing his type of songs including other singers.
even then, if he failed to sing his style at least 90 percent correct,, I have doubt that he can be eliminated.

Since all the die-hard fans of Magic Jasraj Joshi have not felt the need to open an appreciation thread for him, am converting this thread into one from this page.

Let me start with posting his Jugalbandi with Aman !

I did like the jugalbandi performance of his with MA though. It was really different, and I loved how they both blended in what each does well. It was interesting and fun to watch. Both singers have really good musical creativity, so the performance worked very well for me. Don't know what everyone else thinks since this really wasn't an appreciation thread to begin with. 😆
