some people have a lot of time 😕 , and how long did it take to come up with all that

all that carry on yet no mention of the stupidity that is fanwars and abuse of other members, name calling etc that goes on in large doses in various forums

Is there any way to prevent people or take action against people who go to Facebook/twitter/Instagram and bash IF members there? If proof is given against them can you do something, maybe give them warning or something?

A very nice initiative by the IF Team. It may be a little inconvenient now but for the long run, IF is gonna be a better place.

"Teens and Adults on the outside, Babies on the inside have decided to protest the decision of the popular Indian entertainment-centric forum - India Forums - to avoid having a chunk of their posts taken away."

It's a sad day in June 2017 when internet moderators and admins have decided to abolish the freedom of a forum user. Instead of having hundreds of thousands of "TFS" (Thanks for Sharing), "Thanks", etc. few worded posts, they have decided to outright ban and remove any posts that solely consist of these word, acronym, or short phrase and are thus a waste of forum space and bandwidth.

However, all is not lost. A group of verbally violent, adolescent members - their age unknown, fortunately due to the mystical grace of the divine goddess of knowledge and wisdom, Saraswati, Isis, Athena, or Minerva - have decided to protest this obvious abuse of power.

From making extremely illogical arguments to just saying the stupidest things you have heard, this group of protesters fear a loss in status that they genuinely worked so hard to achieve. This is, after all, a life or death situation because in India Forums, once you lose status among the favorable (read: Self-Proclaimed Crazed Followers of Celebrity Fan Groups), it will not only be tougher to crawl back, but in that amount of time, with that many posts, a form member could have become someone else.

Being a money-making scheme that this is, it is very important to -- wait hold on, my boss is sending me a message. Mmmhmm, mmhmm, yeah, okay, uh-huh, sure, really, wow. Okay, I'm back. My boss just informed me that this is not related to money except in the sense that they lost all that time. Given that they probably weren't going to end up putting that time to the best of use (hey, they are complaining about it instead of accepting and moving on), it really makes no difference.

Other members have encouraged and congratulated the mods on making this move. But they really didn't give two-shits to begin with so it really doesn't make too much a difference to them.

A few members have even offered to donate a chunk of their posts to those who will feel the painful feeling of separation from their posts. Such pyaar, ishq, aur mohabbat between post numbers and humans is a wonderful sight to behold, until you get past all that and see the weirdness behind this.

Of all the things to complain about, I'm surprised that people think that losing post numbers are far more important.

Here a list of top 10 things I would like changed:

1. Having some sort of memory of what has been written so a refresh (by accident, or by IF's "there are some words breaking the rules, so please edit your post") doesn't erase the contents.

2. Increase forum width to be dynamic. Those with widescreen (which is really common in 2017) displays can take advantage of the entire entire screen instead of having borders around the sides.

3. More smileys. For reference, I suggest something like this: https://slickdeals.net/forums/misc.php. Also, if you intend on keeping the same smileys, at least upgrade the resolution to make it more sharper and cleaner. It's a blurry mess.

4. A smart URL linking system. I want to be able to click the Link button and have a link automatically made. I DO NOT want to highlight everything after "Http://" or "Https://", click the link button and then hit "OK". It's an unnecessary step and a hassle.

5. Change the emoticon image. Why is it this guy - - when we can have something happier like 😊.

6. Fix the formatting problems (Left / right / center justification, indent, etc.)

7.
- why is this blurry? Make it crisp and sharp. Update these icons to something in higher definition.

8. Have a maximum image size formatter in place. So when someone posts a huge image and it comes outside of the base forum width, it would scale it down to an acceptable size.

9. Update the forum logo as well. On this "post reply" page, this is what the logo appears like -

That's blurry. Seriously, what is it with you guys and this lack of quality. Even the Inbox, Scraps, Slambook area is blurred.

10. Do you really need a cut / copy / paste icon IF. Take it out or add something else.

Instead of screaming about losing posts, let's focus on improving IF. Face it, TFS, Thanks, etc. are a waste of forum space, offers no discussion, insight or thoughts, and you end up scrolling past it.

And now, I copy before clicking "post reply" because I don't want to lose this and I'm not going to open google docs / another application on something that a forum should have built in. Then again, I guess it's not that much of a loss if someone has to retype "Thanks" or "TFS" to begin with 😛.

A brilliant set of suggestions which definitely should be implemented for more user friendly experience. And people cribbing about losing posts, you can take my posts as well. Doesn't matter. 😆

For the moment we have fixed the issue by reverting back the QUOTE limit feature. Will bring it back soon.
