Tropical Storm Jose pushed northward into the Atlantic Ocean Sunday night, out of reach of any land masses, U.S. forecasters said.
In its 8 p.m. EDT advisory, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said Jose was passing to the northwest of Bermuda and, while no storm watches or warnings were in effect, was expected to send squalls to the island during the night.
Jose, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, was about 125 miles north-northwest of Bermuda and was heading north at 20 mph.
Tropical storm-force winds were reaching out 50 miles from its center.
Jose was expected to turn toward the north-northeast and increase its forward speed by Monday, when it was expected to weaken.
