Synopsis
Anna Malai , a rich businessman becomes poor all of a sudden.

Synopsis: Vikatan Televistas join hands with S. Kumaran for their latest production, Thendral. The story revolves around a young girl, Thulasi who wishes to fulfill her ambitions to become an engineer. However, as a consequence of her biological mother's actions, her goals become impossible. Thendral, a tamil soap opera, focuses on how Thulasi overcomes her obstacles with the help of some well-wishers. Having premiered on December 07, 2009, the serial is aired regularly at 9.00 pm, during the weekdays.
Coming from a middle class family, Thulasi lives with her father, Muttumanikkam, step momother, Padmavathy, (half) siblings, Mano and Pavithra, and her grandmother. Since the elopement of her mother, Thulasi's family has shunned her, especially her father and step mother. However, the only souls who shower love and care on Thulasi are her grandmother and her best friends Deepa and Kalyani. Despite her obstacles, Thulasi focuses on continuing her studies, in order to help her family. She ranks top in the district. On the other hand, Thulasi's father dreams about seeing his son as an engineer, yet his dreams are put on hold due to lack of money. Knowing this, a break-inspector and a thug in the 40's, Velaayudam (played by Nizhalgal Ravi) approaches them to help Muttumanikkam's dream come true, under one condition; that is if he agrees to get Thulasi married to him. Velaayudam further uses the house document Muttumanikkam had put on pawn to blackmail them. A greedy Muttumanikkam and his cunning wife decide to put Thulasi's educatoin at stake by getting her married to a man who could well be her father, to achieve their goals. While Velaayudam is smitten by Thulasi, the latter isn't interested in marriage, but is forced to marry Velaydam. In comes our hero Tamilarasu, who is a bank officer with a heart of a gold. He happens to see Thulasi's picture by accident and falls for her. His sister encourages him to meet Thulasi, who could potentially be her sister in law.
On the other hand, Thulasi's friend isn't able to see her best friend ruining her life for the sake of such a selfish family, hence she does her best to halt the the wedding by getting Vel arrested on a corruption case. However, It doesn't take too long for Vel to return and blackmail Thulasi's parents to get Thulasi married to him. Soon the D-Day arrives, but not all hope is lost! Before Vel ties the knot with Thulasi, Tamizharasau arrives to rescue her with the help of her grandmother and friends.
