IF Servers Migrations Starts in 1hr

The new servers have arrived and we are starting on the migration part just NOW and hopefully when you again visit the site in 2hrs you will find it verrrry Fast!

You may have noticed that the IF servers has been acting up lately. And we're trying our best to fix it and as a part of the plan to also keep the network up to date we will be migrating the site to a new and improved servers.We are growing as a site by leaps and bounds so to make sure that the new users can be added without any slowness for the existing ones this is going to start on 31st October 2005 at 12:15 PM IST (India Time). In order to do it successfully we would have to stop the site for roughly 2hrs so that we can copy the entire 30GB of Database to the new server.

The site may be intermittently down or slow throughout the migration time, but come the the migration the results should be spectacular. And faster! 👏

Thats not all !!! Once we move to the new servers are we going to be able to host the first ever IF TELLY AWARDS and all the other fun stuff that Vijay has been telling us all about. YAY its soon going to be exciting time on IF with all the contests and awards. 😃

Note from Vijay:

Did you guys noticed we have again brought back the Birthday alert under the members avatars. So that every member whose birthday is approaching in 7 days time will have a notification under their post so that other members can easily take note of it. This feature was there earlier but was withdrawn due to server slowness and now its back again. 😊

Thax a lot for leting us know. that would be fun. cause now sometimes it takes long time to log in & even after the log in it crash. & also some of us have the system at work (when u using the computer at work) r not too many options.. once again thax a lot for the info.
