Why RLHN isn't a saas-bahu saga!

I have noticed that people have this conception that only mythological and saas-bahu sagas can succeed on TV, even in channels like Sony TV. And even feel that's why Sony TV lacks TRPs. But is RLHN a saas-bahu serial? Here are some reasons (according to me, it isn't):
1) Firstly, there is no saas-bahu in this serial yet! 😆
2) No saas-bahu sagas have a female lead that talks back and gives it back rightfully to those who are considered elder to her, even if the elders are walking the wrong path.
3) In typical saas-bahu sagas, the female lead does not do stunts.
4) The serial is not filled with negativity. RLHN is balanced with comic moments as well and the leads know how to deal with the negativity of the family members.
5) The female lead does not need to be saved, rather she's the one doing the saving.
6) The leads know how to use their brains. Often in saas-bahu sagas, the leads' intelligence is often compromised for drama and TRPs.
7) There is no abusive male lead. Ratan respects Diya and even supports her when she's being insulted by the family.
8) The relationship between Ratan and Diya is based on mutual understanding and respect and comprises of equal partnership. Both Ratan and Diya equally use their intelligence to think of solutions. I have noticed that in saas bahu sagas, only either the female lead (mostly) or male lead uses his/her brain at one point of time while the other remains oblivious.
9) The serial is based on an intense cat-and-mouse chase between Ratan's killer and Dira. In saas-bahu serials, only the antagonist plots, makes the protagonists lose for a long while and then the protagonists eventually catch up and defeat the antagonist.
10) The characters are multi-dimensional. Right now, we're still not fully sure who's good or bad in Ratan's family. Even the leads have various shades in their characterisations. While Ratan seems like a playful, carefree boy, he's realising his responsibilities and gradually maturing. While Diya is presented like a stoic, mature lady, we still see vulnerable and child-like moments of her.

Feel free to disagree/ add onto my points! 😊

Your post is bang on.. I don't think I found anything to disagree on😆
One thing which I can't stand in Hindi soaps is villains speaking all crap and heroine standing quietly shedding tears.
I am glad Diya is such a different character who has shown that she values bonds relationships but at the same time won't take any bullshit from anyone and give it back wherever it's coming from. She is like a complete team or army in herself and not that typical bechari type who needs a man to save her or is only daydreaming of her prince on white horse

Ratan too though it's always diya saving him but it's not like his brain is dead. He too does care for her at the same time just like she is concerned for him. So there is a balance of sort.

Maybe one thing which can happen is Choti thakurani will try to separate Dira in future and then we have entry of abhay also who again might turn negative but as long as getting such intense scenes of DiRa daily I would say bring it on😆

Thanks haha! 😊 Before the serial started, some people presumed that Diya will be shown solely as an one-woman army and that her character will be glorified at the expense of others. But she's not. At some times, the antagonist overpowers her and at other moments, she overpowers the antagonist. Moreover, she's not the only one thinking of solutions to problems. Ratan also does, like his suggestion about the ghoonghat and the killer. Their relationship possesses equality. No one is portrayed as superior to the other.

Exactly... No glorification... Every character is being given importance... & Shshi Summet productions are doing justice with each one of them...
It is not like a roadside production house were for the glorification of one particular character 2-3 or even all other characters are destroyed mercilessly...

Wonderful post dear. I agree with you and these are the shows that gain maximum TRPs.
Personally speaking I prefer shows with a message or with a differ at story line. Although I know they don't gain high TRPs and as a result are at risk of being pulled off air also. Still till they telecast the shows I enjoy watching them.

Bang on
Couldn't find a single point to rebut. The reason why I could not connect with any show in looong long times is that most of them are so regressive. I am loving RLHN.
