Don't wish to denigrate anyone on this forum, so apologies at the outset in case there are bruised feelings ...
Loving this serial could very well be a function of the mean age of the viewers ... oh ... my guess would be - not exceeding mid 30's ... very likely even younger ... we oldies do get crusty as time flies by ... ending up fully fossilized ... which is where I would put myself ... except ... I have a real penchant for the korny, looney, and zany ...
So ... on someone's urging, I watched my very first episode ... the not especially interesting tango between Rohan and Isha as they dance around ex-boyfriends (fellow plays 'Shiv' in the other YSR production ... see below) and soon to be ex-girlfriends ... annoying clients incapable of finding their soul mate ... and the va va voom vixen ... gosh, what was her name?!! (obviously eminently forgettable) ... geez louise ... as old as the hills ...
So, it appears to me, that under a very thin veneer of 'glamor' provided by the au courant sets and costume (thanks to the deep pockets of the producers) lies a stilted and thoroughly vapid dialogue! My efforts were valiant ... but could not bring myself to even crack a smile ... I find the same problem with their other production 'Mahi Way' which would be a masterpiece of plagiarism (aka 'imitation is the best form of flattery') ... except they forgot to carry over the humor from the 'Bridget Jones' Diary' and 'The Devil Wears Prada' movies that very generously provided the plot ...
Young Mr. Shastri (?): spellcheck comes in handy from time to time ... 'tis spelt 'grateful' not 'greatful' (yup, not even in American 'English')...
Sorry Mr. Chopra ... you've gotta try harder 😕

But of course there are!! No paucity of simpletons on this planet ... great reason why the Chopras of this world take the rest for a ride ... and then some ...
Some (granted very few) of us others, sadly, pine for things that are even marginally intellectually stimulating ... a great paucity of that as well ... particularly in the realm of 'entertainment' that is available for public consumption on the subcontinent ...
I hardly wish to tear you away from that which gives you pleasure ... I am just exercising my right to voice my opinion!
Cheers and Enjoy!

of course you're entitled to your opinion. but it seems like you're expressing your opinion mostly because you want a reaction out of us fans. don't watch the show if you don't like it. simple.

as for calling us viewers simpletons, i'd recommend you alter your vocabulary. could get you thrown out of the forum.

and then you probably wont be able to exercise your right to voice your thirst for marginal intellectual stimulation.

Hmm...first thing's first...to avoid getting enmeshed in the old This-Is-A-Democratic-Forum embroglio, let me clarify at the outset that you are perfectly entitled to any opinion you wish to hold of a show or it's actors and producers/directors, and I respect it.

But to term those who might disagree, 'simpletons', or to draw generalised conclusions based on what you term 'meanness' of age...isn't that a bit unfair?
Secondly, your point about the paucity of content that is intellectually stimulating. I don't quite see how one can categorize what stimulates the intellect and what does not, in so decisive a manner. I'll put it very simply: each episode of Rishta.com, at least so far, has certainly given me food for thought. And that would translate into intellectual stimulation, would it not? People need not be 'simpletons' to find something to think about where you might not. It's more a subjective thing, the way I see it.
I think what makes for good television need not be intellectual in the conventional sense of the term, anyway. Also, what I glean from a show depends more on me than the show itself. I can find some relevant points to ponder, or just some pure and simple escapist fare. Both figure prominently on my list of favourites. And I see both in Rishta too. But that's besides the point. If you find nothing that interests you in the show, then you're free to say so. I respect your opinion, although I Disagree.
Cheers! :)

Well I guess everyone has different choice!
I respect your views (although I disagree), so would not comment on it!
But about the show, I would like to say that this show is an amazing!
it's very hard to find the show that can entertain you beyond words and for me that show s Rishta.Com.
I don't know what other thinks of this show but I am very sure that everyone on this forum and also outside the forum loves this show, so it's very clear that the show has something that is addictive.
My view (no offence to anyone)

Nothing is perfect in this world neither you nor any of us! But i think you watched this show just to see what is wrong in it..not what is right in it! When your very outset is so negative and full of ifs and ans..then you better not watch it, as you will never be able to appreciate it!
Everybody is master of his/her own world..you must be having one as well..so be happy and if you've nothing positive to contribute to the world outside yours in the form of praise and crticism both..would advice stay in your own world! Why to boil your blood and ours as well ! 😊
Cheers!

Agree from word to word Dear!
It's true that not everyone aproove of one thing but it's also true that we should try and see the good points than bad ones.

Ah ... if it were only known ... the amusement engendered by controversy! 😉
but it seems like you're expressing your opinion mostly because you want a reaction out of us fans.
That's not true i.e. a desire on my part to get a rise out of anyone ... on the other hand, providing fodder (however plain) for intellectual stimulation (however marginal) - yes ... we cannot all gush over everything ... all of the time ...
as for calling us viewers simpletons, i'd recommend you alter your vocabulary.
Ohh! Reeully?!! Alter my vocabulary?! Gee whiz! That's a tad hard to do given the toiling on my part to even get to this point ... Dear, I strive to 'speak' the 'Queen's English' ... well ... shucks ... OK ... forgot .... duh ... since the Queen does not hold sway in this part of the world ... American English ... to the maximum extent possible ... 😊
could get you thrown out of the forum.
OK ... if you say so! I'll take that risk ... 😭
let me clarify at the outset that you are perfectly entitled to any opinion you wish to hold of a show or it's actors and producers/directors, and I respect it.
That's very charitable of you, so thanks! It's also comforting to realize that rather than a diatribe (aka 'a rise') as a response, someone may strive to explain what about the show is so endearing ... I already granted that part of those who love/adore/live/breathe it are very likely of a different generation ... but I also admitted to having an almost incongruous liking for the zany (and this show was advertised - to me - as a likely candidate) ... at this point, I have not come away with a deep appreciation for whether this serial is supposed to be drama or comedy ... perhaps somewhere on that continuum ... I wasn't especially moved in either direction ...
'meanness' of age
Ah yes! I see the misunderstanding here ... 'mean' is that long forgotten middle school mathematical concept ... it's also known as the 'average' ... ergo, mean age = average age ...
I'll put it very simply: each episode of Rishta.com, at least so far, has certainly given me food for thought. And that would translate into intellectual stimulation, would it not?
Much obliged to you for putting it simply ... now, I like what you say in terms of 'food for thought' (which of course, as you rightfully point out, provides intellectual stimulation - of varying granularity) ... I also grant you that I have not seen the serial since its inception, but if I extrapolate based on what I saw yesterday, I should remain unmoved ... but enough about me ... tell me what were/are these morsels that caused/cause you to cogitate ... and about what ... there's something I'm missing ... and I hate being left out in the cold 😔
I think what makes for good television need not be intellectual in the conventional sense of the term, anyway.
Well ... I'm unsure what you intend with 'conventional sense' ... but surely being amused is as much a part of one's intellect as not ... just different parts of the brain are activated in instances that cause mirth ... in any event, most of cognitive neuroscience is putting 'conventional thought processes' on their virtual heads (no pun intended) ... at the risk of being redundant ... I do like entertainment that is out there in left field ... and all cultures are capable of such humor ...
I respect your opinion, although I Disagree.
Good! I hardly thought that there would be droves of 'fans' who would be in violent agreement with me ... but I'd still be interested in knowing what aspects of the serial resonate with you ...
Nothing is perfect in this world neither you nor any of us!
Agreed! 'Perfection' is a nonsensical concept ...
But i think you watched this show just to see what is wrong in it..not what is right in it!
First, how do you know that to be a fact? Second, why on earth would I watch a show for the express purpose of carping about it?!! You couldn't begin to feel the sense of deprivation I have already suffered over the recent past waiting for decent Indian TV (recent past only because it's been unavailable to us here so far West on the planet) ...
Why to boil your blood and ours as well !
Will you oblige me with a re-read of my initial post? There was that brief preamble ... the one with an apology ... which may be falling on many a blind spot (and this is not a derisory comment, there actually is a part of the retina known as the 'blind spot') ... furthermore, if, as you say, each is mistress of her own world, then you are the only person capable of regulating your own response ... and my blood did not boil ... at any time ... I was just a little confused about the appeal of the serial ... I think, I still am 😕
I'm about as open-minded as one can be (but not to the point where my brains fall out of course) ... so I can be persuaded ... help me see it from your eyes ... I must have a larger blind spot than most ...
