And here I am again...except this time, I'm going to ramble a little instead of my usual point by point thing...I say it every time, but I have to say it again, I LOVED tonight's episode...!! I'd say it took a while to pick up though, but on the whole, it was the way Rishta.com always is...brilliantly subtle, not in the least preachy, hilariously witty, with a message, and yes, with the composite twist at the end...there were a couple of things that crossed my mind and I will randomly put them down here...probably in the process, I'll also officially bore you guys to death, lol...but what the heck...really wanted to write in with my two cents...so here goes...😊
First and foremost, and this deserves an honorary mention for tonight's episode, the immortalised tryst between Rohan and the Tulsi plant...haha...three of my most favourite moments from tonight's episode came from this love-hate saga...one, Rohan bursting into "Saare bolo, Jai Mata Di! Zor se bolo, Jai Mata Di!" as soon as he catches sight of Ruchika, with his eyes crinkled shut and an I-Am-So-Enjoying-This grin playing around his lips...excuse the temporary gooey mode, but I could have reached right through the screen and pinched and pulled his cheeks then and there...hehe...and two, the mid-phonecall bhakti-bhaav, lol, when he mock-prays in earnest to the Tulsi in Ruchika's hand, circles around it, and goes right back to his call like there wasn't any interruption at all...haha...slick! 😆
Another little thing I really liked was how well Isha knows Rohan...right from the beginning to the phonecall from his "Dentist"...and yes, of course, Rohan's smart alec remark that at least he has someone to try out his ghise pite schemes on, complete with a dramatic eyes-closed-hand-on-heart gesture to spell 'Ouch!' for Isha...lol...he takes digs at her throughout the episode...when she's planning her dad's party and asks Ruchika for the cake lady's number...cake kyon chahiye? Tumhari shaadi hai?...Isha looks scornful...nahin, woh papa...*eyebrows rise to crescendo*...Papa ki shaadi hai?...*paper roll hits head*...aah, annual party ki planning...*in a confidential tone, to Ruchika*...pichle saal hilne ki jagah nahin thi...chhe log aaye the...haha...😛
And then, of course, there's Rohan himself...Kavi's fantastic, I don't think I need to say that anymore...but Rohan...now this is one guy we're only just beginning to discover...there's a part of him hiding just under the surface, behind the almost cocky 'mard' swagger...and he's not very good at hiding it, because it tends to come out every now and then, especially when he's emotional...the emphatic reaction to Rathod's khandani parampara, for instance...loved Isha's reaction here...jab tum emotional hote ho, thode ajeeb lagte ho...hehe...oh, and I LOVED the last scene with Ruchika...when he takes her that rope carrier and apologises for mocking her...I thought that scene was really, really well handled, script wise, expressions wise, and generally...especially when Rohan blabbers trying to say what Ramika had said, and gives it up with a subsequent 'Never mind'...There's also the Rohan we all know already, of course...the one who doesn't take the call he's been waiting (im)patiently for and fixes a date on his terms later...his expression at that precise moment reads, "And that's how it's done"...lol...smooth...!! 😎
And finally, the message that came with the episode, as always...again, well chosen, and really well done! A fresh take on the stereotyped traditional-implies-conservative-implies-patriarchal argument...Rimika was a pleasant surprise for me as a viewer...she was quite a shock for all present at Rishta, lol, Rohan especially, who's jaw hung open and eyebrows stood raised all the while he stared at her as though to make sure his vision wasn't bailing out on him...lol...but see, that's the point...and Rimika paraphrased it beautifully...to be traditional and to be conservative are totally different things...the things we find strange are the things we don't understand...but everything we don't understand isn't necessarily wrong...really well put!
On the whole, LOVED tonight's episode...and yes, there are many little moments I've probably missed out here, but I'll leave you guys to fill them in, for a change...if you guys are still reading, and still alive, lol, would love to know what you think...and sorry about the length...!! 😊
Cheers!
Nandini 😃
P.S. Huzeifa and the bee sting were hilarious...especially Ruchika and Rohan's AAARGH raction when they first caught sight of him...haha...😆
