All of us have this one person in life who can make us listen to them.
- If we are happy they celebrate along with us; at the same time prepare us to face the next adversity.
- If we are sad, they lend us a shoulder to cry on; at the same time convince us that there is sure to be light at the end of the tunnel.
- If we are making a mistake, be it in life or career, they have the guts to tell us the truth, and get us to mend our ways.
- If we are about to take some decisions in life, be it big or small, they act like our sounding boards, and help us to make a wise choice.
This is the voice that stands for what is logical, reasonable and practical.
At KKN, Ronnie was this sane voice for everyone around him. This quite, sweet, loving and caring guy was the voice of logic and reason. Even without raising his voice, he could make everyone listen to him.
For Sunny, he was the male counterpart, with whom he could discuss his crush or his thoughts about Malvika (which were not very complimentary).
For Richa, he was the colleague, who encouraged her at work, and was happy for her achievements. That she loved him or wanted to marry him him came in much later, but till that point they enjoyed an easy camaraderie, which ensured professional growth for both of them.
The first time Richa was about to read her new business segment, she spent time with Ronnie in PCR. They were discussing Ananya, so the significance of this small scene was probably lost on us at that time, but recently, after breaking the news about Ronnie's death, she missed him in the PRC and broke down, reveals how much the quite presence of the person in the PRC added to her inherent strength.
For Ananya, he is the friend who was there for her, come what may. He is the only person who could make her listen to him and do things against her will - something that even her mom could not do - so far. Ananya has a mind of her own, but the quite voice, gave her the most practical advice when she was confused or muddled up. Had Ronnie been around, he would have told her, jaake Kabir ko sorry bolde, and she would have done it immediately. That is the kind of respect Ananya had for Ronnie's words.
For Khalid and Kabir Ronnie was the ever dependable guy who they can rely on and trust in a crisis situation. He not only understood what they wanted, but also understood what he can do to contribute and performed to the best of his ability.
We have folks like Ronnie around us, all the time.
If they know when to chill out, be one of the gang and take it easy with friends, they also know when you to step forward to take responsibility and ownership for what needs to be done.
Come, let's recognize the sane voice in our life and say Thank you to them.
These folks usually prefer to linger on in the background, not be in the limelight, don't seek recognition or appreciation, but trust me, they are the most gutsy folks you can ever come across in life.
We would all be like a bunch of loose cannons without them around...
