Hi all
The weekends off lately have been heavy for me since, I don't get to see the serial that brought me back to Television in real sense after a looong break.. however, its pathetic to think also that within a month, I will have to cope up living without the excitement... the wait that goes minute by minute, the ecstasy, the longings, the cute feelings, the smiles that Kabir brings...even, the depression, the helplessness , everything!!!
But today, the situation is worst, just now, while watching Sony (I committed the blunder of seeing Hamari Adhuri Kahani movie which has the amazing capability to spoil the freshest of moods) and came across the promo of a new serial "Pyar hi Rehne Do" or something like that, which might replace Reporters... I was flabbergasted!!!
The new show has all the so called ingredients which Indian viewers want... The joint family, a husband - wife, and all... The serial brought me to the harsh reality of our expectations as Indian viewers.
Few months back, some maker decided to go for an experiment, to try to bring a refreshing break from Dayas, Aksharas, Dadi Mas, Sasu Mas, etc by coming up with a series which was essentially factual, which didn't have any of the above characters. Here, the characters essentially belonged to modern era.
To start with, they presented to us the hero like Kabir Sharma - the most HUMAN character - No, I wont call him a fallible character because, we all are humans and we all have our own loopholes more or less, may be of different nature, like Kabir. Though, Kabir is damn hot, an eye candy, but at the same time, he is short tempered, arrogant and selfish and moreover an ASTUTE in his own words. He may be head over heels in love with Ananya but he does have flaws, a stained past that also involves his involvement with Sudhir Kashyap and more importantly, infidelity. Kabir is definitely the representative of lakhs of Indian who are highly hypocratic and more or less, are in the same boat, because, according to me, a person spending time and having an emotional dependence on someone else other than spouse, is also a form of mental infidelity. The only difference is - Kabir accepted it, most of us wont!!!
We also got to know Ananya, a girl whose heart is made up of gold yet extremely childish and stupid to trust people instantly... very much impulsive, genuine but veryyy stubborn... Aren't most of the girls like that?
Here, they gave us a mother, Mrs. Kashyap who is modern enough to allow her daughter to stay outdoors in late nights, who understands her daughter fully and doesn't find any shame or guilt in accepting the fact that her house is run by her daughter... she doesn't go for emotional dialogues, she doesn't cry on her so called helplessness. When her daughter falls in love with a man who is almost a decade elder than her and a divorcee, she doesn't have any problems having only one expectations from him that he should keep her daughter happy.
Arman, another representative of the young generation, a very practical guy, who doesn't cry or shout or emotionally blackmail his sister but supports her unconditionally because he likes Kabir, irrespective of him being a divorcee and all!!!
We also witnessed a friend, Ronnie, who was madly in love with his best friend, yet when he gets discarded by her, preferring someone on him, he neither gets crazy, or devdas in her love nor he turns negative after being discarded, on the contrary, he stands as a pillar for her, becoming a support system not only for her but also for her boyfriend.
While, we also saw Tarini who is extremely comfortable with Kabir in spite of being his partner in bed for one night. She doesn't have any grudges, nor is she ashamed of it, since, as the best friend of Kabir, and also, being in love with him, she didn't mind that... Very practical approach!!!
We also saw fallible characters like Malvika, who was depicted as a spoilt brat, who tries her level best to lure Kabir, even does some kaminigiri to separate Kabir and Ananya but like, most of us, she also realizes her mistakes and turns good but instead of becoming a demi-Goddess, staying and helping Kabir and Ananya, she decides to give up and quit- we may not like her to leave especially when she has turned positive, but I guess, this is a very practical step which most of us would have taken if we were at her place!!!
We also witnessed characters like Khalid, who is shrewd, who can use Kabir by cheating with him when it comes to KKN but otherwise, being a good friend of him... Aren't all the business entrepreneurs like that???
And yes, we also have characters like Shreya who may look damn cunning and out of the world a bas***d... yet I will call her real, because unfortunately, I myself have witnessed such a character in my personal life.
And... in spite of these realistic characters and a very realistic story line, the serial failed to get a reasonably good TRP though it deserved to be the mostly viewed serial, thus, somehow forcing the makers and others also to make such type of serials in future also or at least a sequel of the same... Yet, what did we do???? Discouraged the makers and actors, completely to have such type of series in future...
I am feeling bad for everyone... I am feeling bad for Rajeev... He is such an amazing character!!! It was entirely Rajeev's acting that he made viewers like us, think in the same way he wanted us to think... Friends have you ever thought, how how much Rajeev's acting played with our emotions- when he wanted us to hate him, we hated him, when he wanted us to love him, we loved him, when he wanted us to doubt him, we are doubting him (The recent Sudhir Kashyap case, how much we all forumwasis are getting mad) . He made us cry, he made us laugh. Rajeev is simply awesome!!! Can easily leave all the bollywood heroes behind forget television actors, yet, we also know that due to very low TRP, he may not even get nomination in most of the awards... forget having a clean sweep everywhere..
I am feeling bad for Kritika... She is better than almost all the so called female characters on television, yet she is not being noticed...
I am feeling bad for the makers, for the story writer, for the entire team for having worked so hard to give us the best of series yet what did we give them in return? Low TRP and channel's step motherly treatment?? Shame on Indian viewers!!! Sorry Reporters, we don't deserve you. Please go... That's good for you!!!
