Kabir dropped her home and on his way back to his place his mind wandered back to the events of the day. She had been super happy when she had rushed in the morning to his cabin rambling about how Tinnu was going to give her a lead. She had also mentioned about how she was excited about the sales that were going to commence soon. She had even asked him to accompany her to shop which he had politely declined! It was one thing to watch movies and shopping was the gravest punishment he could endure. She had continued further how she liked his wardrobe and thought aqua marine colour looked the best on him. He had to sternly tell her that he shopped only once in a year and that too when he could avoid the maddening sale rush. She had brought out the best weapon she possessed - her pout and he had to placate her by assuring her that she would be accompanying him whenever he went shopping next!
She was a crazy girl ! The smallest of things brought joy to her ! She had no idea how precious she was !
After that there was the editorial meeting and post lunch he had left for the meeting with Khalid! Manav was on a week long break and that left only Malvika. Ananya on a number of occasions had proved she could match and even outsmart Malvika! So what had gone wrong?
He opened the door and found Tarini in the house.
'Kabir, what are you doing here? I thought you were watching a movie with Ananya today?'- She asked him
' Haan. She canceled the plan , she had some work at home. Tum yahan par?"
' Haan who Anurag apni text book bhool gaya. Maths ki text book. He is extremely happy that he has lost it magar usse kya pata uski maa bhi journalist hai'- Tarini smiled at him
She took in his facial expressions and asked him - 'Kabir kya hua? Did you have a fight with Ananya?'
'Nahn. I don't know aaj kuch toh hua hai. I cant put my finger on it. She was really upset in the evening. It is very unlike Ananya to miss a date with me.'- Kabir told her as he sat on the couch.
'I asked her what happened but she shrugged the topic. Tarini, I know her like I know myself , something has been bothering her. And then she asked me the most ridiculous question. She asked me if I'm happy with her?'' - He continued.
Tarini sat down next to Kabir and asked him - '' I'm sure kisi ne usse kuch kaha hai. She is a very brave girl and it has to be something big kyonki Ananya aise upset hone waalon mein se nahn hai'. Tarini liked Ananya. She was a perfect match for Kabir and she knew they both deserved all the happiness in the world.
' That I'm sure of. I have a feeling Malvika has something to do with it. Magar Ananya Malvika jaisi dus ko handle kar sakti hai'- Kabir spoke as he raked his fingers through his hair feeling frustrated.
'Ananya professionally Malvika ko handle kar sakti hai , but Im sure Malvika ne usko kuch personal kaha hoga. Kabir, jaise Ananya tumhari weakness hai waise hi uski weakness tum ho. Malvika dare not say a word to you but I'm sure she must have blown her steam at Annaya. She must have questioned the strength of your relationship and the bond you share'- Tarini told him
' Ananya jaanti hai that I love her. I mean mera bus chale toh main uska desk apne cabin mein laga lun. Hell I might just quit my job and just travel with her.'- Kabir said
' Kabir I know tumne is relationship mein driving seat Ananaya ko di hai. You are letting her decide the pace of the relationship but you know it is important at times to assert yourself. Dekho Kabir, Ananya doesn't understand the office politics and this power game and that is what makes her so special. Malvika jaise log apni position ka fayda uthate hain and they will do the best they can to create a wedge. Kabir yeh tumhari responsibility hai ki tum Ananya ki side lo. Kai baar actions hi nahn words ki bhi jarurat hoti hai' - Tarini reasoned with him
'Tarini I want there to be honesty in our relationship. I can walk on fire for her magar she needs to share with me'- Kabir told her
'Kabir yeh Ananya ke angle se samjho. She had loved you for 8 years and you put her through hell before you confessed. She is dating a man she thought she would never even meet and this is surreal for her. You come with all this baggage including me. Kabir, Ananya is a gem of human being but being a woman I'm sure she finds the bond we share to be uncomfortable. Uske baad you are her boss at work and you have Malvika lurking around most of the times. The women in your office swoon when you walk in'- Tarini added
'Kabir Im not saying that you go the PCR and broadcast that you are committed and love Ananya but you have to tell a few vultures there you are taken. Kabhi kabar words and action dono ki jarurat padti hai'- She told him as she got up to leave
'Acha Kabir main chalti hun. Yaad karna deciding to be with Ananya is the best decision you have ever made. Don't make her settle for anything less'- she smiled at him and walked out of his house.
Kabir pondered over what Tarini had told him. Was his past really an impediment in their relationship? He had never hidden anything from her and he knew if she asked him anything he would tell her the truth. Nothing mattered more to him than being with her!
He pulled out her phone and called his Miss. Kashyap!
'Ice cream khaane chalogi, Miss Kashyap!
'' Phir Miss. Kashyap! Magar aap toh ice cream khaate nahn'
'Ananya tumhari tarah har roz ice cream nahn khata. Im not allergic to it , I do occasionally enjoy an ice cream' - he smiled to himself ready for her tirade
'What nonsense! I don't eat an ice cream daily. May be weekly magar har roz nhan khaati. Waise achanak se ice cream?'
' Ananya tumne toh ice cream khana meri 9 baje ki bulletin bana di. Ab man kar raha hai ice cream ka. Agar tum busy ho toh main order in kar leta hun'- he prodded further. God! He wanted to spend every second with her
' Busy nahn hun. Theek hai lets meet up for ice cream. Where do you want to go?'
' Tum ready ho jaao. I should be there in 30 minutes to pick you up. '- He smiled as he disconnected the call.
Thirty minutes by the clock and Kabir was there to pick her up.
She sat in the car and asked him-' Why the sudden urge to have ice cream?'
He just shrugged his shoulders and drove to the nearest ice cream parlour.
Ananya was baffled. It was unlike Kabir to make impromptu plans. He was the organised one and the busy one.
He came back with two ice creams.Fifteen minutes later they were done and Kabir started to drive the car. Ananya just gazed out of the window enjoying the comfortable silence in the car.
Soon she saw that they had entered KKN compound.
'Kabir, we are at KKN?'- she looked at him
He parked the car and looked at her-' Haan KKN. Ananya I need to talk to you. Tumhare ghar pe possible nahn hai and I just thought idhar koi disturb nahn karega'
Ananya took in his worried expression. Of course her stupid juvenile behaviour had rattled him!
' Kabir if you are talking about today afternoon then it is nothing'- she reassured him as a she fiddled with her bracelet.
' Ananya when it comes to you there is nothing that is more important to me. Chalo ab batao Malvika ne kya kaha?'- he told her
Her eyes opened wide and she was stunned ! How had he guessed it was something to do with Malvika.
' Give me and my reputation a little credit. Agar main ek mundane case suljha sakta hun toh anything concerning you is a priority. Chalo batao kya boli Woh?'- he didnot want to beat around the bush.
' Nothing. Uske usual taunts. '- Ananya tried to evade the question.
' Ananya please the truth.'- he asked her.
' OK. She kind of figured out that we are dating each other. She then then said that we are poles apart and I'm just a distraction for you. She highlighted the fact that I know nothing about you'- she told him with her eyes lowered focusing on her bracelet.
Kabir fumed. Malvika needed to be put in her place.
' Ananya meri zindagi ka koi bhi chapter main Tumne nahn chupana chata. I know you told me that you didn't want to know but Ananya tumhara janana zazuri hai. I don't want others to create a wedge between us'- he reassured Ananya.
Kabir leaned back in his seat and continued -' I belong to lets say a very opulent business family. I never was keen on joining the family business. My father thought my passion for journalism was just a passing phase. I got married to Shreya and she was expected to get me back to family business. Main bahut ziddi hun Ananya. I had made up my mind that I wouldn't return and a year into our marriage we both knew we were not meant to be. Usko comfortable life chahye thi and I don't blame her. She had gotten married to an industrialist's son and not a struggling reporter. Tarini then came into the picture and she had an affair with a senior. Logon ne two plus two seedha five kar liya and assumed that I was the senior. Shreya ne na meri baat suni na Tarini ki and filed for divorce. I didn't offer any explanation either. Who rishta mere liye mar gaya tha'
'I was on a destructive path. I drank , ran into trouble , hit my bosses. Then Anurag was born and I realized Tarini was all alone and she needed help. Anurag gave me a purpose and I became what I am.'
'Ananya you are not the first junior I have worked with. I have worked with a lot of junior reporter who are beautiful and I have met my share of beautiful women as well. Magar Ananya I crave only for you and they don't matter. It is part of my job to keep a lot of influential women happy but that doesn't mean that they mean anything to me. At the end of the day I want to be with you and you alone. Yeh sab bahut superficial hai Ananya. '- He told her wanting her to believe every word he said
She looked at his earnest expression and once again she was rendered speechless and only thing she could murmur was a barely coherent 'I love you too''
'Main jaanti hun Kabir. I know you love me and I know I love you. Thodi insecurities are a part of a new relationship. I have faith in our relationship and I'm sure whatever comes our way we will overcome it'- She told him as she leaned forward to kiss him.
This devoted man was hers and hers alone!
He kissed her with passion holding a promise to love and cherish her till his last breath.
' Rahi baat Malvika ki usko kal main theek karta hun'- Kabir told Ananya
'Kabir nahn. I don't want you interfering. It is not your business'- she tried reasoning with him
'Ananya , everything related to you is my business. She didn't question you , she questioned our relationship and that is off limits for anyone. '- he said with finality in is voice.
She knew this tone. He had made up his mind. She just gave him a reassuring nod, not wanting to be in Malvika's place tomorrow!
