Ananya had messaged Kabir and had cancelled her movie plan with him. She was just too mentally spent to focus something on something as trivial as a movie. Malvika's conversation kept playing in her mind as if on some invisible loop!
'So what do you think Ananya? Now that you have Kabir reciprocating your feelings you will be able to hang onto him forever. You still don't get it do you? You are a distraction for him. You are opposite of what he is. You are brash, juvenile and immature. You can intrigue him for as long as you want. Tum jaanti kitna ho usko? Nothing. You know nothing about him. '
He was everything a girl desired! No, he was everything she desired. He was the guiding beacon of her life. He could read her like an open book. He could melt her heart by just looking at her!
What about her? Did she really know Kabir? Was she really just a distraction for him? Could she match him? She didn't doubt his love for her. But was their love strong enough to sail them through?
She aimlessly typed on her desktop just to keep herself occupied. Kabir had gone for a meeting and she was glad he was away. She didn't want her insecurities to hamper their relationship.
Kabir walked in the office with a bevy of ladies. Malvika as expected was clung to him and there were two other women. She knew one was a famous actress and the other was some socialite she couldn't exactly place. All three women walked into his office and snacks and coffee followed. She could see him through the glass. He was his charming self, making them smile laugh and blush. He was an attractive man and as Richa had once told her he had authority and power to match his good looks.
Her phone buzzed and she read the message
' Hi! How are we doing today?
It was from Kabir. She looked at him from her desk as he feigned interest in the conversation.
'Good. Im going to leave now. Work at home. Talk later'
She replied. She didn't want him to witness her inner turmoil. This was her burden to bear and not his. None of this was his fault. He put in more than he could in the relationship - He was caring , sensitive and let her decide the pace of the relationship.
She hurriedly picked up her bag and left. Her phone buzzed again.
'All well?'
She smiled at his concern.
'Yes. Maa needed a little help.'
She hailed an auto and asked the driver to take her to the garden near by. She did not want her mother to scrutinize her relationship with Kabir. With a lot of effort her mother had come to terms with her feelings for Kabir.
She occupied the empty bench and let her thoughts wander to the last three months she had spent basking in his love. Trisha always told her it was her honeymoon dating period and she should enjoy it. She knew it was a genuine effort from Kabir's side. He was not the vocal man and was very private. He didn't enjoy watching movies yet he accompanied her for movies and listened to her mindless chatter as she dissected the plot.
He made it a point to spend time with her friends, inviting them over for dinner. He was a gracious host and she knew he could never fit in, yet he tried. He could never be part of the banter yet he made a point to smile or be a sport if he was at the receiving end. How long would be able to make this effort?
She had met Tarini a number of times. She genuinely liked the woman and loved her son. Truth be told she was more comfortable with Anurag as compared to Tarini. Tarini had welcomed her with open arms and she was genuinely glad that Kabir had found someone he could spend the rest of his life with. She was somewhere jealous of the easy camaraderie that Kabir and Tarini shared !
She didn't realize how much time had passed when her phone rang and she saw Kabir's name flashing on her screen
' Where are you Ananya?'- he asked her as soon as she picked up the phone
How she hated lying to him. 'At home '- She told him
'Ananya, I asked where are you? I just got off the phone with your mother'
' I'm at the Lodhi Gardens. Anything urgent?'
'Ananya ! Kya hua? ''
God! She hated himself. Why couldn't she just be ecstatic ? Why did she have such lingering doubts?
' Nothing. I just wanted to some quiet time so came here. Im fine.'
'Ananya , Im reaching there in 10 minutes'- saying this he cut the call.
What was she supposed to say to him? Hell! She didn't even know what she was feeling?
In a few minutes time she saw him stride towards her with worry etched on his face.
'Ananya. What is going on? You tell me you are going home and then you don't reach home. Kya hua?'
She smiled at him, atleast she made a gallant effort to flash her smile. The smile never reached her eyes. Kabir stared at her face and her faade started to melt. Tears sprang to her eyes.
In a flash, Kabir had engulfed her in a hug and asked her-'Ananya , ab batao kya hua? You are scaring me'
'Kuch nahn. Aise hi mood theek nahn hai. '- She told him as she wiped her tears.
'Ananya, please talk to me. Tum hamesha kehti ho we need to communicate'- He told her.
She smiled at him and threaded her fingers with his-'Kuch hai hi nahn toh kya bataun.'
Kabir stared at her , absolutely certain that something had transpired that had her worried and upset. He was not Kabir Sharma for nothing. He would get to the bottom of it.
'Kabir, are you really happy with me?'- The question caught him off guard. This woman was the reason he looked forward to the next day. She was the reason for his existence. He would move heaven and earth for her.
'Ananya, kaisa sawaal hai yeh? Main bahut khush hun.'- He couldn't think of anything else to say. She was his world!
'Good! Main bhi. Now please drop me home before maa gets worried and lands at KKN'- She told him as she headed for his car giving him a forced reassuring smile.
He smiled at her and followed her to his car. Someone had hurt her today ! That someone was going to answer to Kabir Sharma!
No body messed with his girl!
