Just an alternate take on Ananya's resignation.

'Sir, this is my resignation. I'm joining News24.'- her words rang in his head and he stormed out of his cabin scared he would do something unforgivable.
He drove aimlessly across the streets of Delhi for an hour. How could she ? How could she resign? Were they over even before they had begun?
His phone brought him out of his reverie.
' Kabir where are you? The editorial meeting is in half an hour'- Malvika told him over the phone
'Don't worry Malvika ! I'm reaching in 15 minutes'
He reached the parking lot of KKN and took a deep breath. He would speak to her - if she really wanted to go he would let her!
He entered the conference room and found everyone seated including the woman responsible for his current state.
' I have an announcement to make. Ananya is moving on guys. She has decided to join News 24. We wish her well'- Malvika announced with a fake smile plastered on her face.
How did Malvika know? Knowing Ananya she would not have discussed it with Malvika. Then it struck him ! It was all Malvika' doing!
He was furious at Malvika and it was his job to nake things right.
' Now Malvika let's not get ahead of ourselves. Khalid and I are yet to take the decision on that'- he told her
' till then Miss Kashyap I want you to work on your human interest story'- he smiled at her.
Ananya was shocked. She expected him to pounce at the opportunity to throw her out. She looked at him confused.
He gave a slight nod conveying he would explain it to her!
' Magar Kabir she has resigned'- Malvika argued. She wanted to see the back of Ananya.
' Aand I have entered the Spanish lottery. Do you think I will win?'- he told her
The entire staff in the conference room snickered.
5 minutes later the staff dispersed and Ananya was hounded by her friends.
' Tera dimag kharab hai kya'
' Ananya don't be impulse'
' kya kari hai tu?'
She didn't care for what her friends were telling her. Her eyes were searching for one man who held her heart !
Kabir crossed her desk and gestured her to follow him to his cabin.
' Resignation ka bhoot utar gaya ki ddrama continue karogi?'- he asked her as they reached his cabin.
'Aapko yeh drama lag raha hai?'- she fumed at him. Her life lay in a precarious balance and he thought this was a drama.
' Ananya I always thought you were a smart girl rather a very bright girl and a journalist. How did you overlook such an important fact ?'
' what fact ?'- she asked him
' Did you apply to any news channel or for that matter news 24? How did they approach you?'- he asked her knowing she would connect the dot.
She was so caught up in her emotions that she had overlooked it completely. Of course she had not applied anywhere. HR from their office had said that she had been recommended.
Kabir wouldn't recommend her and Khalid would either - that left only Malvika!
That bitch , this was all orchestrated by her!
'Malvika !'- she spoke
' Well done! Full marks'- he smiled at her. His stupid reporter wasn't stupid at all.
Next moment they had Malvika and Khalid enter Kabir's cabin
'Ah! All the parties are here. So lets cut the chase shall we?'- Khalid announced
' Ananya, do you really want to resign. Agar sach mein resign karna chahti ho toh baaki lecture ka koi point nahn hai'- Khalid told her
' Don't be Ridiculous Khalid! If she doesn't want to resign why would she type her resignation?'- Malvika countered
Ananya looker icily at Malvika. Nerve of the woman !
' Malvika ! Miss Kashyap is very fond of resigning. Pehle bhi kar chuki hain. She probably has a copy saved as her draft'- Kabir announced informally.
He mentioned it so casually but Ananya could see his desperation behind the words- he wanted her to stay!
Three pairs of eyes stared at her- one wanting her to leave, the other indifferent to her decision but the last pair of eyes held hope, hope that she would change her decision!
She could never let him down.
' Kabir sir be mujhe samjhaya ki KKN mein growth opportunities jyada hain and of course learning bhi. I have decided to stay' - she stared long and hard at Malvika as she told them all.
' Great! Aaj ke drama ka quota khatam. Good decision Ananya'- Khalid awkwardly patted her shoulder and left.
' Chalo Ananya'- Kabir said
'Kahan?'- he heard both the women speak in unison.
' Malvika, I'm taking Ananya out for a coffee. Employee retention bahut important hai. It must have been an ordeal for her'- Kabir told Malvika in all seriousness.
Ananya couldn't help but smile. What a daft woman! She surely had never played chess in her life.
' chalein Miss.Kashyap?'- Kabir asked Ananya with a twinkle in his eyes.
' Ji sir! Saath mein ek muffin bhi , lag raha hai sugar low ho gayi'- Ananya smiled at him
Kabir and Ananya stepped out of his cabin leaving a fuming Malvika behind !
