A few days after the wedding
Ananya: Kabir why do I have to go on maternity leave?
Kabir: Because you need some rest before mini-Ananya takes over our lives like a hurricane
Ananya: but
Kabir: I am not giving you a choice Ananya.
Two days later
AM: Come inside beta
Kabir: How is she Ma?
AM: Restless as usual. But the rest is doing her good :)
Kabir: That's nice to here. Ma I was tinking of taking her out to dinner.
AM: Of course she'll enjoy the change. But try and come back early.
Kabir: Will do.
Kabir went to Ananya's room. She was sleeping peacefully. Kabir noticed that her ankles were swollen. He went to press them gently. Ananya got up.
Kabir: I am sorry. I didn't think you'd get up.
Ananya: I'd love to get up to the site of you pressing my feet everyday.
Kabir: I am sure you would. Now get ready. We are going for dinner.
Ananya: Where?
Kabir: It's a surprise.
Kabir refused to divulge any further secrets. When they reached the destination, he blindfolded Ananya and gently led her.
Finally when he let her open her eyes ananya was mesmerized. Kabir had brought her to a private beach, A single table was laid out in front of them. The table had her favorite lilies and a single candle. Ananya was speechless.
Ananya: Kabir?
Kabir: Did you like it?
Ananya: Like it?? I love it.. But...
Kabir: Three years back I first set my eyes on you. Three years back I met the girl who would change my life forever. This is just a small celebration of that wonderful day.
Ananya hugged Kabir. Kabir led her to the table and handed another gift to her. It was a scrapbook.
Ananya opened it to find pictures capturing the precious moments of the past three years. The first reporting assignment they did together. The day he asked her out. The day she moved in with him. Their first holiday together. Their assignment in Assam. Their baby's first ultrasound. The day Kabir dedicated his award to her. Pictures from Richa and Ronnie's wedding. On the last page there was a card. She opened it and was rendered speechless by what was written
"Ananya weds Kabir
Date:?"
She had tears in her eyes. She looked towards Kabir who nodded. Next moment he had gone down on his knees.
Kabir: I know this has taken a long time coming. But better late than never. Ananya Kashyap will you marry me?
Ananya: But Kabir.. Marriage and you.
Kabir: Ananya I lost faith in marriage after my divorce. But you have been more than a wife, more than a life partner to me in the past couple of years. You have truly been the half that completes me - my aradhangini. And I want to commit to this relationship in front of society, in front of the almighty. I want you to be mine not just in this life, but for all seven lives.
Tell me Ananya, will you marry me?
Ananya nodded and the next moment Kabir slid a lovely diamond ring in her finger. He then hugged her tightly.
Ananya; OUCH!
Kabir: What happened? Are you OK?
Ananya: Your baby just kicked. I think she is feeling left out.
Kabir bent down and kissed spoke softly.
Kabir: Baby girl, you are the most precious thing in your parents life. How can we forget you.
He embraced Ananya once again, this time placing one hand on her belly.
Next morning:
AM; I cant tell you how happy I am. I have called the Pandit. He'll be here any moment.
Ananya: Ma! Whats the need to match Kundalis and...
AM: YOu two have made me wait for so long. Now let me have my way.
Kabir: OK Ma. But you have to say yes to one request. You have to move in with us after the wedding.
AM: How can I beta? It's your house..
Kabir: Really Ma? Is that really just my house?
AM: Beta I didn't..
Kabir: Then no more arguments. Plus I'll need help in managing Ananya and junior Ananya...
All of them laughed. The Pandit gave two auspicious dates- one for two weeks later and another for four months later. Kabir and Ananya's mother said in unison
Four months later
Ananya: Wow! You are already teaming up?! But I prefer the date two weeks from now. That way we'll be able to welcome our baby as a married couple.
Kabir: No Ananya, it's too stressful. Even if we do a simple wedding, it's too much for you to handle in this condition.
AM: kabir is absolutely right. Plus you are only getting married once. Do't you want to dance at your own wedding?
After more coaxing Ananya finally relented.
Life couldn't get any better for Kabir and Ananya.
