I will be waiting
Sometimes she just liked to stare out of the window.. she never felt like doing anything these days.. propped up on her pillow.. she looked out at a beautiful sight. It was one of the most beautiful spring mornings when the sun was gleaming over the first flowers which have blossomed. The first sign of greenery was beginning to show. The meadows which lay in front of her were taking on a healthy green colour.. and the snow was starting to melt. .. there was a bit of cloud on the sky and the ground smelt fresh and new.. and green.. he used to say, " greenery is good for your eyes. Green things have a lot of Vitamin A and less glaze. That's why people who live in high mountain lands tend to have healthy eyes." She believed him. That's why they had moved to this place a couple of years back.
Where was he now? She wondered. Two months after they had come, he had gone as usual for his morning walk. He never returned. She somehow knew that he hadn't died. He had once said, " I promise that I will never die until you are by my side." And since his disappearance she had been completely alone. She never went out again, the only time she left her bed was when she had to eat. She always slept with his picture clasped to her bosom. Every phone call filled her heart with terror and expectance. Every time her doorbell rang, she expected it to be him, standing there with a bouquet of flowers especially for her.. but all that was just her dream.. she knew he would never come back.
But she also knew that she would wait here for him.. as long as she lived.. in the faintest and vaguest of hopes that one day she will see him again. Once again he will stand in front of her and swoop down to kiss her forehead.. and give her an invaluable present, be it a flower or a dress.. and say, "Yeh hum aapke liye layen hai Tia."
