PART 1
R:In hawaaon mein…in waadiyon mein kuch hai. Jab bhi mein yahaan se guzarta hoon…mujhe aisa lagta hai ki koi mujhe pukaar raha hai. Woh mujhe uski taraf kheech rahi hai. Pata nahi banna…ajeeb sa ek ehsaas jo mein puri tarah samajh nahi sakta!
Y: Ranveer, my Brother….yahaan kuch nahi hai. Yeh to sirf pahaad ki effect hai. Is altitude mein oxygen thoda kum rehta hai…issiliye tumhe ajeeb sa lagta hai. Bas! Now c'mon, jeep mein beithjao. Hum dono ko us guest house shyam hone se pehle pohoch na hai. Yeh roads bahut khatarnaak hai….so I don't want to drive in the dark.
PART 2
Ranveer & Yuvi have been coming to this hill station for several years now. They come here atleast once a year to refresh their memories, to create some new music, to relive those beautiful days!
They have both been friends ever since they can remember. Their friendship was cemented way back, when they were just toddlers. They both don't remember how they became friends but they do remember being pulled towards each other by some unknown invisible force. It was destiny that they ended up in the same school. It was destiny that they became partners in class. It was destiny that made them part of the same team in sports. They always ended up together, fighting for the same cause, going through the same problems, helping each other through detention, maths exams and first crushes.
In high school, both formed a music band…..more a duo. The music came to them so easily……as if they had heard these tunes somewhere and sung these songs several times before. Their music was appreciated because it was so fresh and unrehearsed. Ranveer & Yuvi never felt the need to practice since the tunes were already in their heads, implanted way back. On many an occasion, they would stand back in surprise, seeing how the other had thought up the same tune. Ranveer always thought that this was because Yuvi and he were so similar and Yuvi would always say…."great minds think alike". Then they would burst out laughing at their own egos!
PART 3
Driving through the winding roads, both sat silently, each lost in his own thoughts. The hills were dead silent at this time when the sun had almost set and the birds were back in their nests.
The chill breeze washed against Ranveers' face and turned his tears icy cold. He sat there in silence but inside him, there was a growing sense of anguish. He felt this very feeling every time he passed through these hills. He wanted to cry out…..to go in search of something….he didn't know what! Ranveer closed his eyes to stop the tears that seemed to surge naturally. He couldn't understand!
Yuvi concentrated hard while driving. He was always adamant about getting up to their guest house by dusk. Ranveer had often teased him… "Take Vitamin A…to keep night blindness at bay!"
Yuvi always wondered why they had to make this trip. He found these mountains least bit beautiful. He would have much rather crashed in his apartment like he did on most weekends.
But for the sake of maintenance!
There was something cruel in these mountains. The picturesque slopes and snow capped peaks were a faade. They concealed something dark & terrible Yuvi thought. Ranveer has an attraction to this place……but I feel like running away and never coming back. Why? Why do I feel this every time?
PART 4
It was close to 7pm by the time they reached the guest house. The staff had already started the fire & lit the lamps. As they entered, the staff formally greeted the two boys (men), whom they had grown accustomed to seeing only once or twice a year. The whole guest house, though small, was reminiscent of a bygone era when hunters proudly hung their prize on the rose wood empanelled walls and electricity was substituted by wall mounted lanterns. The staff waited in the kitchen while Ranveer & Yuvi quickly finished their dinner. Little was spoken. Both were tired from the journey.
On the way up Yuvi reminded Ranveer to bring his guitar for the morning walk.
Yuvi: Ranveer, tomorrow we'll make some amazing music. It's gonna rock.
Ranveer: Yes, good night Yuvi!
Then they both went into their own rooms. But never slept!
