Why Karan and Tulsi are the icons of early 2000

Because both these characters reacted out of box

It is karan virani gen who are 35-40 years old now in 2025 who after exposure to outside world have been open at home towards women at home(atleast in big metroes and cities)

If you look at engineering courses in 1990s even late 1990s hardly 12% girls were in engineering class and by 2012 its like 22% only mbbs was even more worst ratio not because girls are not studying till 10th or 12th because parents do not want to waste money on daughters education in such courses as its costly its mostly the son who got such opportunity

Like in 80s and 90s in real life did you ever hear

a widow re marriage

or a girl raped marrying any man (forget a rich man like karan virani from a rich business family)

or will any mother in 90s shoot her son dead for attacking her daughter in law like tulsi

or any step son accept step mom as mother and defend her over his own mom like karan

These were all unbelievable concepts mostly for 90s and early 2000s adults and aged parents etc

that is reason tulsi or karan virani are pillar of this show in early 2000s because both characters had differentiating quality from real life step mom or real life step son

They brought about a change in thinking regarding how a step son should be or a step mom should be

And that is reason everyone wants Tulsi and Karan back on show

Now in 2025 its all become common aman marrying 2 women than divorcing or falling for other women like mihir

Now Female lead only marrying 2 men on show

Society has changed a lot from 2000 to 2025

so may be what Karan or tulsi did in the show was not unique

But in 2000 it was definitely unique concept

Even today n real life no step son will support step mom over own mom like karan did than

If Mihir has affair with Noyana now i want Karan to come back and take Tulsi and stay sepearte in own home with Tulsi, Nnadini and his kids

Let Mihir get down his pedestal and ask sorry than only go back

Problem with Tulsi character even in 2000 is shes forgiven Mihir too manytimes for affair or misbehaviour towards her

That Tulsi character was ok for 2000s but in 2025 she will look outdated

Or may be 58 year olds even today will bear with hubby tantrums and affairs because its too late to start life again
