Neela Angan
Parvati sang the lines of her favourite song in the angan as she pulled the dry clothes off the line and dropped it into the basket. "tum paas aaye... yun muskurayee..." She felt something strange and she turned around to see Rudra leaning against a pillar looking at her. She raised her head and narrowed her eyes, asking him with just her actions if he wanted something. He shook his head at her question and just smiled in return as he strode towards her.
He asked, "Paro main madat karo?" (Do you want any help?)
"Maine kuch madat nahin..." (I don't want any help...) She stopped mid sentence as he reached for the dupatta on the line, she stood face to face with him, while her frame was squished in between his arms. He dropped the dupatta in the basket and met his wife's eyes. "Tum maa bane wali... tum aram kar, baki ghar wali yeh sab kardoonge." (You're going to be a mother, you rest, the rest of house members will do all of this.)
She knew it was no use to protest, so she readily agreed. "Theek hai Major Saab... tu kapre utalo" (Okay Rudra, you pick up the clothes.) As he cleared the line of clothes, she walked over to the tub filled with water and white dupattas. She opened the blue dye container and emptied some of the blue dye into the tub. She mixed the dupattas with her hand and left it to soak. Just as she washed her hands, Rudra came up behind her. "Paro hogaya, aur kuch kam?" (Done, any other work?)
She shook her head, "Nahin..." (No) He held her waist and pulled her into his chest. He ran his hands up and down the length of her arm, and then he leaned into her, kissing her collarbone.
She gulped and looked around making sure no one was approaching, "Major Saab angan mein..." (Rudra, in the courtyard.)
"Shhh..." He said right before he captured her lips.
As they both pulled apart for a breath, they heard a gasp. They looked up to see Maithali standing near the balcony gaping at the two of them. Maithali covered her eyes and quickly disappeared from where she was standing.
Rudra and Parvati looked at each other, the latter was embarrassed and the former found it amusing. Parvati hit her husband's hard chest, "Muskuraana band kar!" (Stop smiling)
He snickered, "Kyon?" (Why?)
She glared at him and pushed him, moving past him and hiding behind the other line of still wet blue dyed dupattas.
He yelled behind her, "Paro sambhal kar." (Careful)
"Major Saab..." She took out her tongue, teasing him.
His feet got tangled in a dupatta hanging from the lines and in a matter of seconds he managed to pull the line of blue dupattas down to the ground as he tripped and fell along with it.
The angan and Rudra was covered in blue dye from the still wet dupattas, with Paro left untouched standing off to the side. Now the tables had turned, he was embarrassed and she found it amusing. She bit her lip holding back a laugh completely ignoring his frown as he got up from the ground. Just as he was about to say something, she held her index finger in front of her mouth and he remained silent. She walked him over to the stool near the tap and ordered him to sit down.
She dipped the cup into the bucket and poured the water over his head. She ran her hands through his hair taking out the drops of dye laced in his tresses. She moved to the other side and rubbed his jaw. She looked up at him in that moment, their faces just inches apart with his eyes fixed on her. She lowered her lashes and a slight hue crept onto her cheeks. He moved a tendril of hair behind her ear and kissed her ear lobe. He pulled her onto his lap and she wound her hands around his broad shoulders. He brushed his lips against hers and began kissing her. They pulled apart after a few seconds and he picked her up, heading straight to their bedroom before another bhabhisa incident occurred.
Just as they made it into their room and onto their bed, they heard the words of Kakisa coming from the angan, of course laced with anger and sarcasm, "Dua Kumari aur Oonth neela holi maana raahati kya?" (Were smoke girl and Camel celebrating blue holi?) They giggled and they continued from where they had left off in the neela angan.
