Part 3

Before darting out of the house Rudra stopped by his bhabhisa's room as he didn't want to leave Dhruv alone at this time.

He knocked on the door and Maithali came out of her room, "Devarjisa what's wrong? Is Dhruv okay?"

Rudra nodded, "I have some urgent work, so Dhruv..."

Maithali smiled, "I'll remain with him, don't worry."

Rudra smiled, "Thanks."

Before he left Maithali told him, "Devarjisa be careful, it looks like a storm is coming.

Rudra replied, "I will bhabisa..."

He made his way into his car knowing that his son was in only good, but in the best hands, Paro had entrusted Maithali with her son, her life and Maithali surely did not disappoint. Over the past seven years Maithali proved not only to be a good sister in law and maasi, but in fact a sister and a good friend.

Rudra's windshield wipers fought furiously to clear his view as the downpour of rain was making it difficult to see the road ahead. Rudra gripped onto his steering wheel tighter as he increased the speed of the car.

How was he going to answer to Amar Mehra? Amar Mehra, Myrah's uncle, a big minister had instilled the trust and faith in Rudra to take care of his niece and he did the exact opposite. He left her in the parking lot in the rain.

So many questions ran through Rudra's mind, how long was she there? How long did it take for someone to notice her there lying on the harsh pitch, completely drenched and cold?

Rudra could not help but remember when his Paro stood outside in the rain, one legged and chanting Om Namah Shiva.' He reached her in the nick of time before she fainted. He was worried sick that night. He felt guilty and did not leave her side, because he knew she was in that state only because of him.

After Maithali changed Paro and left, he applied a wet cloth on her head continuously throughout the night till her fever subsided. He protectively kept his palm under her cheek to save her from hitting the side of the bed.

He brushed his memories away as his car turned into the parking lot of the hotel. He hurriedly parked and made his way into the hotel's lobby where a woman was waiting nervously; she seemed to be a staff member of the hotel given by her attire.

As Rudra neared, the woman asked, "Mr Ranawat?" Rudra nodded.

She continued, "I was the one who called you earlier. I changed ma'am's clothes and the doctor is checking her right now."

"Thank you." He said and made his way up to Myrah's room. He opened the hotel door to see the doctor giving her an injection. The doctor packed his bag and walked towards Rudra.

Rudra inquired, "Doctor is she okay?"
The doctor replied, "She fainted due to being drenched and she had a fever. I've given her an injection, she'll be fine..." The doctor paused and added, "Don't worry your wife will be okay." The doctor left the room.

Rudra gulped hearing the word wife. He closed his eyes feeling the rush of pain rattle through his body. He wanted to stop the doctor and tell her that he was not Myrah's husband and he was only Paro's but relating his story to the doctor was the least of his concerns right now as he saw Myrah stirring. He moved closer to her and saw her eyes open slightly.

Myrah blinked her eyes lazily and saw Rudra's figure towering above her.

"Ru draa... what happened?"

Rudra sat on the car next to her, "You fainted. The doctor gave you an injection, you'll be alright." His tone was neutral.

Myrah's head ached. Everything that took place in the parking came rushing back into her head.

"Thanks..." Myrah whispered.

Before Rudra could say anything his phone began ringing, he saw it was Myrah's uncle. "Its your uncle..." She nodded and he excused himself and stood by the window.

He pressed his temple before answering the call, "Yes sir."

Amar blared into the line, "I learn from a goddamn staff member that my niece fainted in the parking lot! Where the hell were you Ranawat?"

Rudra tried to speak but Amar cut him off, "Do you know how worried I was? I can't believe your irresponsibility. Where is Myrah? I want to talk with her."

Rudra looked at Myrah half sitting on the bed, "She's right here... just a second!"

Rudra walked to the bed and held out his hand with the phone, Myrah took it. Rudra went over to the window, creating a safe distance so she could speak to her uncle freely.

She gulped down her tears and looked away from Rudra, "Chachu I'm fine. It was not his fault. Yes chachu. No I'll inform him. Okay goodnight chachu" She ended the call and cleared her throat loudly to catch Rudra's attention. He returned to her side and she handed him the phone.

She lowered her gaze and fidgeted with her hands, "I'm really sorry, I truly didn't know that you are married. I would have never..."

Rudra interrupted her, "My wife, she died, seven years ago. I have a son also Dhruv."

Myrah, "What, I thought... I'm sorry for your loss...I didn't know you had a son. I guess there's a lot that I don't know"

Rudra interrupted, "Yeah and about us almost kissing earlier, I'm sorry. I don't what happened to me. I didn't intend to lead you on."

Myrah's head shot up, "I should be the one saying sorry. I mean it must have been embarrassing... me saying... I guess I misunderstood everything."

She wiped a tear away, "You don't have to return to the job from tomorrow. You're free to leave."

Rudra tried to say something, "Myrah..."

Myrah held her hand up to prevent him from continuing, "Thanks for helping me. I will be leaving for the US the day after tomorrow so your services are no longer required. And also if possible, please ignore what I told you in the parking lot. You can leave now."

Rudra nodded, "Goodnight Myrah. Take care." He led himself out and shut the door behind him.

Myrah curled into a ball and began sobbing. She remembered her mother's words the day her marriage was fixed with Rohit, "Your first love will always be special. Something you can never forget. When you find that person, don't let them go." Myrah closed her eyes, she had done just that, she let Rudra go.

She was never in love with Rohit, he was only a friend. She was only getting married to him because of her father. But everything changed when their families found out that Rohit had gotten a girl pregnant and secretly married the girl to keep her quiet. And yet he was all set to marry Myrah like nothing happened. Myrah's father immediately broke everything off. Her mother begged her to return to the US with them but Myrah declined, she had preferred to remain in India. She liked it better than the US for some reason. Anywhere she went her security officer went along with her. Initially she thought she just had a crush on him but after she realised it was more than that. She tried bringing him out of his shell, making him laugh, talk and visit places with her. He never spoke of his personal life so she assumed he was not married. He did speak about a Dhruv and a Koyal once or twice, but she took them as his nephew and niece. But Dhruv is actually his son.

How could she have misunderstood his nice nature and doing his job as love from his side? After a while she couldn't cry any longer, her pillow was completely soaked with tears, and she was completely exhausted. She drifted to sleep.

Poor Myrah. She is heartbroken. I hate when that happens to people who are always cheerful and full of life, like her. But I'm not to worrried as I know you will fix her heart soon.
I want to know what happens next. Waiting for the next update.
