Hi everyone! HAPPY CANADA DAY FELLOW CANADIANS!!!

Sorry if this has already been said, since I just watched the episode I thought this really needed to be said.

RR has some great running story lines and one of those is Miathili and Samrat's marriage and Mohini's desire for an heir. So, with that in mind here is a rant.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH SOME WOMEN?! Why are we our own worst enemies? How can we forget solidarity, respect and kindness and just consider another female- ie our DILs to just be vessels for an heir? The Story line with Mohini is just very real, where a mother in law wants an heir and will belittle/ pressure her DIL and even try to replace her like she's a broken item and not a human. It's so real, and it makes me wonder- what if it was YOUR daughter? What Sunheri was treated like that Mo? I'd possibly understand a MIL who only has sons to MAYBE not be sympathetic, but when YOU YOURSELF have a daughter how can you be such a bitch?!? HOW?!

These patriarchical values and son preference or need for an heir is disgusting and so bloody real. This is a reality that we all need to fight, be vocal about and stand up for. Whether it be a little thing.

Next time you hear an aunty or women belittling another woman, or speaking about how so and so doesn't have a son or child please speak up. Speaking up is the only way to break this disgusting pattern.

They happen in most cultures because, heck the world is patriarchical. But growing up in a Indian Community I can attest to the fact that we're sometimes the biggest hypocrites. We have Raksha Bandhan, we have goddesses and deities (Durga, Lakshmi, Ma Kaali) that are show as powerful etc, yet we can't respect women or empower women consistently.

Gah, it's just so god damn frustrating.

People say that "it doesn't matter, so long as the child is healthy" yet they'll have keep having kids until they have a son.
