I agree. He did not think or care abt Laila's goodness before because he did not belive in goodness. He used her for his needs but even after 8 years could not get attached to her because he knew that she was evil like others and he did not care as he had not really witnessed real goodness in people...after meetig PAro he saw the contrast. He started believing in goodness and started respecting PAro for that. That is why now he realizes how evil Laila is.
If years to togetherness mattered we would not have heard of divorces after 10, 15 even 20 years of marriage but they happen.
HE could not tolerate the fact that she is hurting PAro emotionally. He has seen her playing games and he knows her real intensions. No wonder he has started disliking her which he did not do earlier... he just did not love her but now when he has seen her trying to hurt PAro from the day of Haldi he started disliking her and that is why he stopped going to her...remember he used to go to Laila even after meeting PAro but he stopped during the wedding preparations...probably during HAldi he realized what a poisonous snake Laila was.

Wouldn't this eat any women (wife) alive?

A man keeps telling his wife his ex is bad, but that same man felt comfort in going to that women, surely the women wasn't that bad, she did give him the comfort and support.

Edit: I repeat I do understand rudra has a traumatic past, and it's understandable, I do sympathize with him, but he needs to understand, how something like this is not easy for a wife to grasp.

Why not? He himself was agreeing that he was behaving like a animal and Jallad. If he was behaving bad and doing bad things why could he go to a bad women. Even Laila was saing she likes her Jallad and Janwar. She is bad and she wants him remain bad for her.

Come to Paro, yes she will feel bad and what can Rudra do now. He past was dark and he acted liked that and repenting now. That's all Paro wants, whatever happened before she comes in to picture she does not need to feel bad. Think this way, That man was dying inside and became like a fire, If Liala was a good women she had 8 long years to give him peace and brought out of that dark instead she used his state and helped to remain same. She never intended to give him peace so that he can keep come to her.

my view, what i get from his words, is..
He was also not good..
He was a heartless man, who doesn't wish to have any commitments..
The relation he had with her is not love, but just to fulfill his necessity..
He never thought he will ever in his life, fall for a girl..
If i make my point clearly, she was just a pro*****te for him..

They had a clear agreement between them not to expect any relation beyond that..
He never concerned for her feelings..
She may be bad, but had a junoon for rudra..
By the way, Rudra is not justifying him..
But at any cost, he wants his paro safe..
May be, he know her well that she is bad, bcz, she was acting as a khabari gor BSD, so she might have developed connections with such bad people.. Enough boldness to deal with them.. With all ingredients of a spy girl...

Rudra had said that initially he went to Laila and later she followed him where ever he went like the Birpur case. Being a khabri she used to follow him. As they have already mentioned in the scenes that he used to get irritated with her presence asking " tu yahan bhi aagayi ". So its clear that the relationship was need based as shown to the viewer's.

I think Laila became crazy! She could not have been this person for 8 years if Rudra was able to stay with her for so long! She was a better person before the marriage track happened. She went a bit schizophrenic after she found out about his marriage. her whole character changed.

Its a good question you ask and one to ponder over.
Rudra went to Laila for his needs nothing else.
He may have told her about his life but as we know quite a number of times while he was either there or just before he would also drink quite a bit. So he may have told her about his life while he was drunk. Back then he didn't care about women. All he cared for was his job and that was his priority.
Laila knew what kind of man he was like and she also knew the terms. She willing went into this type of relationship with him, no strings attached which suited Rudra perfectly well.
Like he had often said he was an animal not a man with a heart. As for him only going to Laila, she was there and willing so he didn't seem the need to seek anyone else.
Whether he knew she was good or bad back then he didn't care but after Paro entering his life things have become a lot different.
Hence when Laila tried to harm Paro he was protecting Paro which is what his BSD training had taught him to do. Always protect the innocent. He knew how innocent Paro was he had seen it so protecting her was his priority and still is.
As for Paro she herself said she cant really say anything about what happened between Rudra and Laila because it happened before they were married. What she wants to know is where she fits into his life and what she means to him.
If Paro was a modern women of today's day and age even they would say that what happened, happened in the past. It shouldn't effect the present or the future if people don't let it.
But Paro is a village girl who hasn't seen the world. All she has seen is what Rudra up until now has shown her. She believes in him and his words. She has seen he cares for her but she wants to hear him say why she matters to him more than Laila does?
She has yet to realise Laila's bad intentions.
Even in today's episode Paro asked Rudra what was the ending of that story and even Rudra thought he is also trying to find the ending of the story.
Rudra may have known what Laila was like but he at that time didn't care which is why he always went back.

yeah, would have liked if they'd shown laila to have more depth before going so negative with the haldi poisoning, because he didn't just go to her for his needs, he used to talk to her, confide in her, work with her, eat with her even. and he would have had choices i'm assuming, so why her for 8 long years? maybe she used to be a nice person once, or had a sad past too and could empathise with him. wish they had explored all this properly, would have been so interesting.

I think there is a difference between a one night stand and repeatedly seeking out and going to the same person for 8 years. Say what he may, fact is there was a relationship built on lust if not love.

I guess for him at that time there was only one thing that even came close to love... which was Laila but I think he knew Laila was like that but since he never had any other girl in his life he didn't have to worry about Laila taking her viciousness out on anyone.
But he knows what Laila is capable of when it comes to her "love" for him. He also knows Paro is innocent and will be easily manipulated especially when she is recovering from the shock regarding LaiRud relationship which is why he is desperately trying to tell her that Laila is bad and she is doing things on purpose to hurt her.
