Tell me about it! I haven't attended Pujo in Cal in years, but it can't have gotten better. It only gets worse.

This show is set in Cal for the 'exotic' quotient of it. I hear that it's based on 'Revenge'. I don't know how far though. If it's how Rangrasiya is based on Othello, then...

Ekta- ma has a bowl with the names of all those states (and communities) who are most prone to being stereotyped. Eg. Punjabis, Gujaratis, Bengalis, Tamilians, Maharashtrians etc. Before starting any show, she closes her eyes, and picks one out. And hallelujah, we have another 'cultural' showcase. The woman's been at it for YEARS now. Somebody should break that bowl now. Or at least add some new names to it.

No no guys. Here there are special cordoned off areas before the protima. They normally do dhunichi naach there, and sometimes give random dhaak performances.

With that, I'll sign off. Too sleepy for wit or LOLs. :)

This ain't Ekta though. It's someone else, I believe.

But I understand what you mean perfectly. In Ekta's world, all Bongs have rounded accents on every language they speak and are obsessed with Durga Puja, all Tams have an exaggerated Tam accent and wear lungis, all Maharashtrians indiscriminately pray to Ganpati and drop 'aai' and 'taai' into their speech. But they all mysteriously speak Hindi to each other. Even when they ALL belong to the same regional community.
Also, you apparently cannot be Muslim and not come from Bhopal/Lucknow. And the concept of a non-practicing Hindu doesn't exist only.

It is beyond belief how communal her shows are.

entire desi tv is stereotypical , not just ekta , yeah we have tamil families , marathi , punjabi ,gujarati families speaking hindi with an accent , but i hardly see any serial set in a proper hindi speaking set up
i wonder why is it so uninteresting to have a UP based or MP based family
i personally dont think any difference in culture , i am a tamilian but grow up in 7 different states across India before i found a job , but atleast we can be relieved of that stupid fake accent

It's not only Ekta, but she started this trend. Before her, things were, dare I say it, more normal on desi tv.

You all can take turns in giving him squishy hugs and lots of love and then I arrive to take him home for a big squeeze! ☺️
